You sit on the couch, the soft glow of the television casting flickering shadows across the dimly lit living room.
You had been binge-watching a show for about four hours, waiting for Jirous reply to your text.
The show you've been half-watching has long since stopped holding your attention.
The dialogue blends into a dull hum, and your eyes grow heavy, the tiredness creeping in like a slow tide.
Your body sinks deeper into the cushions, the warmth and comfort tempting you to stay just a little longer.
But no, it's late, and you know you need to get up. With a sigh, you pick up the remote, the cool plastic smooth against your fingers, and press the power button.
The screen blinks off, leaving the room in near darkness, illuminated only by the soft amber glow of a lamp in the corner.
You stretch, your muscles stiff from sitting in the same position for too long. The air feels still, almost too quiet now without the TV's background noise.
Your phone, resting beside you on the couch, vibrates faintly as you grab it.
You clutch it in one hand and push yourself off the couch with the other, your legs feeling a little sluggish.
The faint sound of soft padding on the floor catches your attention, and you glance down to see Michi, your cat, trailing after you.
Her golden brown eyes gleam in the faint light, her tail swaying lazily behind her.
She's always been your little shadow, never far from your side.
You make your way to your room; the familiar path through the hallway is comforting.
Your socks muffle your footsteps against the hardwood floor. Michi follows closely, weaving between your legs now and then, her soft fur brushing against you.
Reaching your room, you flip on the light, and the soft, warm glow spills over the neatly made bed and the small nightstand beside it.
Setting your phone down on the bed for a moment, you lean over the nightstand to grab your charger.
The thin cord feels cool in your hand as you untangle it from the other items cluttering the surface.
You plug it into your phone, watching as the screen lights up with the small battery icon.
