You had just walked through the door, boots heavy with exhaustion, your patrol gear halfway off before your phone buzzed.
Emergency mission.
No details-just coordinates and the words "high priority."
You didn't waste time.
The fatigue didn't matter now.
You suited up fast.
Tightened your gloves.
Secured your gear.
Checked your comm.
Then you were out the door and into the night.
The meeting point was an abandoned building on the edge of town-concrete, rust, and shadows.
Inasa and Camie were already there when you arrived, both looking tense but composed.
"We've got two targets," Inasa said, voice low. "One's got some kind of freaky science quirk. Other messes with the ground-earth manipulation, maybe. Not that strong, though."
You nodded.
Easy enough.
Or it should've been.
The three of you split up, slipping into the maze of crumbling hallways and hollowed-out rooms.
Every step echoed.
Every corner felt like it might hold something waiting.
