CHAPTER 29: The Pressure of Final Exams
The next day during homeroom, Aizawa stood at the front of the class, his usual disinterested expression firmly in place. "Listen up," he began, his voice flat but commanding attention. "Summer break is coming up soon, and we’ve planned a trip to a forest lodge for training. However, if any of you fail to pass the end-of-term test, you’ll be stuck in remedial classes instead. So, make sure you’re ready."
The class collectively groaned, but everyone knew he wasn’t joking. Only a week away from finals, Aizawa's warning rang loudly in their heads.
"Get ready for both the written and practical sections," Aizawa continued. "Given how you’ve performed so far this semester, it’s clear some of you need to prepare harder than others."
Kaminari and Mina exchanged worried looks. Kaminari scratched his head, looking even more perplexed than usual. "Uh, I haven’t studied at all," he muttered.
Mina nodded in agreement, equally panicked. "Same here! Too much has happened, how are we supposed to keep up with all this?"
Tokoyami crossed his arms, his dark demeanor as serious as ever. "Given the difficulty of the midterms, I can only assume the final exams will be even worse."
Sato added, "It’s not just the written tests either. The practical will be just as hard."
Mineta, always eager to boast, chimed in smugly. "Ha, you guys are worrying for nothing! Sure, the practical will be tough, but the written test is easy if you’ve been paying attention like me."
Midoriya and Iida tried to remain positive, encouraging the rest of the class. "You guys can do this," Midoriya said, offering a reassuring smile. "We’ve been through so much already; if we work together, we can make it through finals."
Iida adjusted his glasses, his voice full of his usual earnestness. "Indeed! Focus on studying hard for the written test and prepare your bodies for the practical. It's the only way forward."
Before anyone could respond, Todoroki interjected, his tone blunt. "It’s not that hard. If you paid attention during class, you wouldn’t have to cram."
Kaminari’s shoulders slumped. "Easy for you to say," he muttered under his breath, feeling even more discouraged.
Just as the atmosphere in the room grew tense, Momo stepped forward with a confident smile. "If anyone needs help with the written test, I’d be happy to tutor. We can study together at my home."
Kaminari's eyes lit up immediately. "Really? That would be awesome!"
Several other students, including Ojiro, Kyouka, and Sero, perked up at the offer. "Count me in," Kyouka said, twirling one of her earphone jacks absently. "I could use the extra help."
Kirishima, ever the supportive friend, looked over at Bakugo. "You’re not worried at all, are you?" he asked with a grin.
Bakugo glared at him, clearly annoyed by the implication. "I don’t need to study. But if you’re gonna fail, then I guess I’ll tutor you myself. Can’t have you dragging us down."
Kirishima scratched the back of his head, chuckling nervously. "Thanks, I guess?"
Nearby, Aoyama interjected dramatically, striking a pose. "It’s far too late to cram for exams, darlings," he said with an exaggerated sigh. "The only path forward is fate."
Shoji, who had been quietly observing, raised an eyebrow at Aoyama. "You should probably be cramming yourself.
