CHAPTER 67: Paths Crossed and Goals Aligned

At Mirio’s suggestion—no, insistence—you find yourself standing outside Sir Nighteye’s agency. He had practically lit up when he brought it up, saying you had to try your work study here. Now, as you stare up at the building, a mix of excitement and nervous energy swirls in your chest. The agency looms tall and impressive, its modern design reflecting the professionalism and purpose within.

You remember the conversation clearly—it had taken place just a few days ago, out by the U.A. courtyard after class.

"You’ve got something special," Mirio had said, his usual grin bright with conviction. "Nighteye looks for people with insight, people who think differently. I seriously think you'd be a great fit."

You had looked at him, uncertainty creeping into your voice. "But I'm not like you or Izuku. I'm still figuring things out."

He had just chuckled, giving your shoulder a friendly nudge. "Exactly. That’s what makes you interesting. You’ve got potential he’ll see. Trust me."

Now, standing before the doors of the agency, that memory steadies your nerves.

This isn’t just another training drill at U.A.—it’s the beginning of the path to the hero you’re determined to be.

As you push open the doors, the polished, almost sterile atmosphere welcomes you. There's a hum of efficiency in the air, and you can't help but notice the focus in the eyes of the heroes and staff moving purposefully around you. You feel small for a moment, an intern stepping into the world of real heroes.

"Hey, Mizushima!" a familiar voice calls out, shattering your nerves with an enthusiastic warmth. You turn to find Mirio jogging over, his face lit up with a big grin that's impossible not to return.

"Togota," you greet, relief flooding through you at the sight of a friend. His presence feels grounding in this intimidating place. "It's great to see you."

He laughs, patting your shoulder. "You ready for this? Sir Nighteye's a tough one, but you're going to learn a ton. Trust me."

You nod, feeling more assured by his encouragement. "I've heard he's strict. I want to make a good impression, though. I've been looking forward to this chance."

Mirio's smile softens, a gleam of understanding in his eyes. "That's the spirit. Come on-let's go meet him."

Just then, the sound of footsteps interrupts your conversation, and you turn instinctively, only to freeze as Izuku rounds the corner of the hallway, carrying a familiar bag slung over his shoulder. You blink in surprise, heart skipping a beat. You hadn't expected him to be here, but there he is, walking toward you with that determined look on his face, his green eyes catching yours.

Izuku’s eyes meet yours, and for a brief second, time seems to slow. His mouth opens as if to speak, but it takes him a moment to collect his thoughts.

“Y/N… I didn’t know you’d be here,” he says, his voice soft, a little uncertain. His gaze lingers on you, and the way his eyes soften sends a wave of warmth rushing through you, but also an undeniable awkwardness.

You swallow, trying to push away the fluttering in your stomach. “I didn’t expect to see you here either,” you say, your voice coming out a little too quick. You clear your throat, forcing a smile. "Guess we’re both in the same boat now."

The thought of working alongside him—the person who’s been on your mind more than you care to admit—brings a tinge of nervousness you hadn’t expected. You’ve always admired him, but now? Things feel different. The tension is palpable. What if he feels the same way? Or worse, what if he doesn’t? You wonder if he’s feeling the same awkwardness, the same whirlwind of emotions as you.
