CHAPTER 121: The Beginning of the End
The battlefield is unrecognizable.
Scorched earth stretches as far as you can see, the air thick with steam and static. Every breath tastes of metal and smoke. Rain cuts through the haze in thin, silvery streaks, hissing as it meets molten stone.
Somewhere beyond the wreckage, you hear the slow, wet sound of flesh twisting — something inside Shigaraki convulsing like it’s trying to crawl out of him.
Your instincts scream before your mind catches up. You stagger back, boots scraping over shattered ground, just as a pulse of dark pressure ripples through the air. It feels like gravity itself snaps — for a moment, the world folds inward.
“All For One…” Izuku’s voice comes through the static, heavy with dread.
You whip your head toward him — he’s braced low, lightning crackling around his arms, trying to stand against the invisible force pressing down on everything.
Shigaraki isn’t moving. Or rather — he’s shaking. His skin fractures like glass under pressure, black veins crawling up his neck. The monstrous energy trapped inside him begins to swell, twisting the air around his body.
You can see it — the corruption, the storm, the infection of power bleeding outward.
A voice cuts through the storm, faint and hoarse but steady.
“All For One’s Quirk factors… they’re destabilizing,” All Might breathes from somewhere behind, one hand braced against a broken slab of concrete. His voice carries the weight of recognition — and horror.
“He’s splitting himself apart.”
Before you can respond, the ground cracks open. A shockwave tears through the ruins, sending both you and Izuku flying back. The world spins in flashes of light and thunder. You hit the ground hard, vision blurring — the taste of iron floods your mouth.
You push up onto your elbow, coughing through smoke. “Izu—!”
“I’m fine!” he shouts, staggering upright. His lightning sputters erratically around his frame, struggling against the pressure.
And then you see it.
Shigaraki’s body convulses violently — his chest tearing open in streaks of black sludge. The darkness surges out like a living storm, writhing and solidifying into a towering figure beside him. The air screams as two monstrous wills pull apart.
You can feel the split — the unnatural separation — like someone tearing a soul in half.
Shigaraki falls to his knees, blood and decay spilling from his hands. His voice is a broken rasp.
“I… won’t… be your puppet again!”
But the thing emerging from him only laughs — a deep, inhuman sound that vibrates through the bones of the world.
“You were never anything but mine, Tomura.”
The sludge rises higher, molding into a half-formed shape — human and monstrous all at once, its face a warped echo of the man who created chaos for generations.
All For One.
Incomplete, unstable — and somehow worse for it.
You barely manage to form a barrier of hydrolight before the first shockwave hits. The water solidifies midair, shimmering blue with gold veins of energy, but it cracks instantly under the pressure. You’re thrown backward again, crashing through a wall of rubble.
“Y/N!”
Izuku’s there in a blur of green, catching your arm before you fall. The electricity humming off his body stings your skin, but his grip is steady.
You breathe out, voice shaking. “He’s… changing. It’s like his body can’t hold it anymore.”
