CHAPTER 106: Even Heroes Need Saving
Before Class 1-A ventured out to bring Izuku back, Principal Nezu gathered them in his office. The air was thick with unspoken tension, each student sitting on edge as they prepared for the task ahead.
"The U.A. Barrier is no ordinary defense system," Nezu began, his voice steady but serious. His small frame somehow carried an aura of authority that silenced the room. "This fortress is designed to repel even the most devastating attacks. It isn't just physical walls. It's a series of layers-shield after shield, each stronger than the last."
He walked over to a holographic model of U.A., which lit up in sections as he spoke. "In the event of an emergency, underground shelters will mobilize, transporting civilians far from harm. If a breach occurs, the barriers can compartmentalize, trapping threats within isolated areas while ensuring safe evacuation routes."
Despite the impressive explanation, the weight in the room didn't lift. Nezu's sharp gaze scanned the room, lingering on a few students before continuing.
"But let me make one thing clear: this fortress is not impenetrable. Its strength lies in trust-trust from the civilians, trust from the heroes guarding them, and trust in each other. If that faith is lost, the structure itself becomes irrelevant."
The students nodded, understanding his underlying message. This wasn't just about saving Izuku. It was about saving hope itself.
"Midoriya is essential," Nezu said softly. "Not just because of his power, but because of the heart he carries. Without him, the spark that inspires others to fight may dim. Bring him back-not just for his sake, but for everyone who believes in heroes."
---
The gates of U.A. were a chaotic storm of fear and anger. Civilians clustered together, their faces twisted with distrust and panic.
"Keep him out!"
"He'll lead Shigaraki right to us!"
"We can't risk our lives for one boy!"
Izuku stood at the center of it all, his body trembling under the weight of their words. He looked utterly defeated, his shoulders hunched and his eyes downcast. Every shout, every accusation, every angry face was like a knife cutting deeper into his already wounded spirit.
Best Jeanist stepped forward, his usually calm demeanor tinged with urgency. "Please, everyone," he began, raising his hands in a gesture of peace. "I understand your concerns, but I assure you, the U.A. Barrier is equipped to handle any threat. We've taken every precaution-"
"Precautions?" a man in the crowd interrupted, his voice sharp with anger. "Where were those precautions when our homes were destroyed? When our families were torn apart?"
The crowd erupted into shouts again, their fear feeding off one another. Jeanist tried to speak over them, but his words were drowned out.
Izuku's breathing quickened, his fists clenching at his sides. He tried to steady himself, but the noise was overwhelming, each accusation echoing in his mind.
You stood off to the side, your heart breaking as you watched Izuku crumble under the weight of the crowd's hatred. He looked so small, so vulnerable-a far cry from the determined hero you knew.
Turning to Ochaco, you grabbed her arm, your grip firm. "I have an idea," you said, your voice low but urgent.
Ochaco looked at you, her eyes wide with worry. "What is it?"
"I need to get up there," you said, gesturing toward the top of U.A. "I need to talk to them-to make them see what they're doing to him."
Ochaco hesitated, glancing at the angry mob. "Are you sure? They're not exactly in the mood to listen."
