CHAPTER 126: Petals in the Wind
The war ended quietly.
Not with cheers,
not with triumph-
but with the hollow stillness that follows a violent storm.
The skies, once sickened and heavy with decay, finally cleared.
Clouds drifted apart like cautious witnesses retreating from the carnage, revealing an expanse of honest blue that felt almost unreal.
You stood beside Izuku, both of you barely upright, watching the first true sunlight touch the fractured world.
It was over.
Truly over.
But the silence didn't last long.
Within minutes, the horizon buzzed with incoming aircraft-sleek black jets, hover-ships, and evacuation transports descending in frantic waves. International rescue heroes flooded the battlefield, shouting commands, scanning debris for survivors, and directing medical units across the rubble.
"Move the med-units up front!"
"We need stabilizers on this side-now!"
"Locate the Class 1-A squad, repeat: eyes on Class 1-A!"
"Check that crater-there were kids fighting in there!"
News drones hovered above, their lenses blinking coldly as they broadcast the devastation across the world. They captured everything-every fallen structure, every trembling survivor, the two of you standing in the center like the exhausted remnants of a fading storm.
A French rescue hero sprinted toward you, eyes wide.
"You two-are you injured? Can you walk?"
Izuku tried to answer.
He opened his mouth, but only a fragile, broken breath slipped out.
"I-I'm fine," he rasped. It was a lie, and everyone knew it.
You steadied him, your hand tightening around his arm.
"Don't move," you whispered.
"You're hurting."
"So are you," he murmured back, voice weak.
He wasn't wrong.
And then everything inside you collapsed.
The adrenaline keeping you upright evaporated in an instant.
Your vision flickered-colors bleeding into gray.
Your limbs shook violently, as if your quirk's final roar reverberated through your bones.
A burning shock ripped up your arms-your quirk backlash igniting every nerve.
"Nngh-" You tried to brace yourself.
Your water stuttered at your feet before collapsing into lifeless puddles.
You clutched your wrist, breath shattering in your throat.
"Izuku-" you tried to warn him.
But your knees buckled.
You pitched forward-
the world rushing up to meet you-
"Y/N!" Izuku lunged for you, but his own legs gave way.
He crumpled beside you, reaching out with trembling fingers that couldn't keep steady.
A rescue hero's voice cut through the ringing in your ears.
"We need two stretchers here-immediately! They're going under!"
Hands gripped your shoulders, lifting you with practiced urgency.
Your vision wavered.
Everything sounded distant, muffled, like you were sinking underwater.
Through the haze, you heard Izuku-
his voice cracking with panic:
"Y/N-stay awake-please-look at me-"
