CHAPTER: 40 Bound by Blood
A chill hung in the air as Mandalay's voice resonated through your mind, echoing in a way that only her telepathic Quirk could. "Everyone, listen closely. The League of Villains has infiltrated the training camp. We're under attack-stay alert and don't engage unless necessary. Watch out for yourselves and each other." The weight of her words settled in, and the reality of the situation intensified as Midoriya disappeared into the darkness in search of Kota.
Meanwhile, deeper in the forest, a different clash was unfolding. Spinner took a step forward, his gaze sharp as he looked over Class 1-A and Class 1-B students with disdain. "Allow me to introduce us-the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains," he declared, his voice dripping with pride. Magne grabbed hold of Pixie-Bob, threatening her life with a cruel smirk, but Spinner immediately intervened, snapping at her.
"Abide by the principles left behind by the Hero Killer, Stain," he scolded, his gaze hardening. He then turned his attention toward you and lida, recognition sparking in his eyes as he unsheathed his jagged sword. "I remember you both from Hosu City... Today, Stain's vision comes to life, and it starts with you."
Just then, an ominous presence shifted beside him. Hydrax stepped forward, her gaze locking onto you with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine. Her focus was unwavering, and as she lifted a hand, water began to coil around her fingers.
"This time, Y/N... I won't let you slip away," she said, her voice cold and biting.
You instinctively stepped back, heart pounding as Hydrax lunged at you with lethal precision. Her water-based Quirk snapped through the air like striking vipers, forcing you to dodge with every ounce of focus. You moved swiftly, ducking and weaving as her relentless attacks drove you deeper into the forest, away from the others.
Branches tore at your arms, and the blur of trees closed in as you darted between them. Each strike from Hydrax came closer than the last - too close.
Then, just as you vaulted over a fallen log, her voice cut through the rush of blood in your ears.
"How could you forget me?" she hissed, bitterness lacing every syllable.
You skidded to a stop, barely ducking a whip of water that sliced through the bark of a nearby tree. "Forget you?" you shot back, breathless and confused. "What are you talking about? I don't even know who you are!"
Hydrax let out a low, bitter laugh - not mocking, but fractured, like a crack in something once whole.
"You'll understand soon enough," she murmured, her next attack already coiling through the air, sharper and colder than before.
---
Meanwhile, Tiger's attention snapped toward Magne, his eyes flashing with fury at the thought of Pixie-Bob's life being cut short by her hands. With a roar, he lunged forward, fists raised as he engaged her in close combat, his movements swift and brutal. Mandalay tried to distract Spinner, using her Quirk to deliver disorienting commands into his mind, but Magne seized the opportunity, using her Quirk to pull Mandalay closer. The battle between the teachers and the villains grew fiercer, with no end in sight.
---
Not too far away, Tetsutetsu stumbled upon Kendo, who had just secured a gas mask created by Momo's Quirk. She handed it to him, urging him to retreat. "This is too dangerous! We need to get back to base camp and regroup," she insisted. But Tetsutetsu shook his head, his jaw set in determination.
"No way. Class 1-A has been fighting villains since the Sports Festival. They've grown stronger because of it. This is our chance to catch up, to prove we're not weak!" His resolve was unwavering, and Kendo recognized the fire in his eyes, understanding that he wouldn't back down.
