CHAPTER 84: Focus Amidst the Fray
As the echoes of the last match faded, excitement buzzed through the air. The students of both Class A and Class B had gathered around the arena, some catching their breath while others eagerly awaited the final battle. You and your classmates were still buzzing from the adrenaline of the previous fight, and your eyes were fixed on the stage, anticipating the showdown ahead.
The fourth match had been intense, showcasing the strengths and quirks of both Class A and Class B. Katsuki’s explosive personality and fierce determination had pushed his team to victory, but not without a struggle. You had cheered him on, impressed by how he had managed to harness his aggression and work alongside his classmates, proving that teamwork could even be forged in the heat of battle.
“Wow, that was something,” Izuku said, standing beside you, his eyes still shining with enthusiasm. “Bakugo really pulled through at the end there, but Class B made him work for it.”
“Yeah, and they had some great strategies,” you replied, your gaze shifting to the battlefield as the preparations for the last match commenced. “But now it’s our turn. I can’t wait to see how we do together.”
With the air still crackling with energy, Aizawa stepped forward to address the students. “Alright, everyone, gather around. The final match is about to begin. I expect each team to give it their all.”
The tension was palpable as Aizawa announced the final matchups of the joint training battle.
“For the final round,” his voice echoed through the training field, “Class A’s Team 5: Izuku Midoriya, Y/N Mizushima, Mina Ashido, Ochaco Uraraka, and Minoru Mineta… versus Class B’s Team 5: Hitoshi Shinso, Yui Kodai, Neito Monoma, Nirengeki Shoda, and Reiko Yanagi.”
Your pulse quickened as you caught Hitoshi’s gaze from across the battlefield. He nodded once—calm, resolute. There was a mutual understanding between you; both of you knew what was at stake in this final match.
Beside you, Izuku stepped forward, his eyes sharp with determination. “You ready for this?”
You gave a confident smirk, brushing your fingers together as water swirled at your feet like a loyal companion. “Always.”
Around you, your teammates prepared. Mina bounced on the balls of her feet, buzzing with energy. Ochaco adjusted her gloves with silent focus. Mineta fidgeted nervously, glancing between the opposition and the simulated urban environment they stood in. You hoped he could hold his own—he’d surprised people before.
A loud buzzer signaled the start of the match.
Aizawa’s sharp gaze followed every movement as the teams exploded into action. The battlefield transformed in an instant—debris stirred, powers activated, and strategy unfolded.
Izuku took the lead, dashing forward with practiced agility. “Let’s work together!” he called over his shoulder.
You flicked your wrist, and a swirl of water followed your command, slithering around the corner of a nearby structure. It struck Neito mid-step as he attempted to mimic Ochaco’s quirk, drenching his boots and forcing him to stumble.
Before he could regain balance, you followed up—drawing in a sharp breath and releasing it as the air around you began to cool. Vapor hissed from the ground as you rapidly heated a thin layer of water, sending a rolling mist blanketing the battlefield.
“Eyes up,” you murmured to yourself, stepping into the fog.
It wasn’t just concealment—it was control.
