CHAPTER 111: A Fist Against Fate
The roar of Giulio's motorcycle echoed through the underground tunnels, the engine vibrating beneath you as you clung to Izuku's waist. The dim overhead lights flickered erratically, casting jagged shadows on the concrete walls. Each time the wheels skidded over debris, your pulse spiked, but you didn't loosen your grip. There was no room for hesitation.
The moment the tunnel curved, you caught a glimpse of what lay behind-pursuers.
A swarm of enemies emerged from the darkness, their eyes gleaming with the unnatural glow of quirks activated in the dim passage. One of them, a lanky figure with jagged metallic claws, lunged forward-his feet barely touching the ground as he slashed at the bike's rear wheel.
You reacted on instinct.
Summoning a tendril of water from the damp tunnel walls, you lashed out, wrapping it around the enemy's wrist and yanking him backward. His body spun in midair before he crashed into another pursuer, the impact sending them tumbling into a pile of loose rubble.
"Nice one!" Izuku called over the wind, his grip tightening around Giulio's shoulder as the older boy swerved around another bend.
"Don't get comfortable yet," Giulio snapped.
Ahead, the tunnel's exit came into view-a circular opening that led out onto the coastline. Sunlight spilled onto the jagged cliffs, illuminating the figures already waiting for you.
Your stomach twisted.
They had been expecting you.
Giulio barely had time to curse before the motorcycle skidded to a stop, its tires grinding against the loose gravel. You jumped off the bike in one smooth motion, landing beside Izuku as you took in the dozen enemies blocking the way forward.
At the center of them all, leaning against a rusted lamppost, was Paulo.
"You sure took your time," he mused, his voice carrying easily over the crash of the distant waves. He cracked his knuckles, and a faint shimmer spread through the air around him.
Then-
A translucent bubble expanded outward, engulfing the battlefield.
The second it passed over you, you felt it.
Your quirk was gone.
Your breath hitched, and you staggered slightly as an eerie numbness settled over you. It wasn't just the loss of control over your water-it was the absence of that familiar energy within you. You reached out instinctively, but nothing responded.
Izuku clenched his fists beside you, his muscles tensed in preparation for an attack. "This is-"
Paulo smirked. "Figured it out yet? My quirk, Erasure Spot, lets me create fields that block quirks. And the best part?" He twirled a smaller bubble between his fingers. "I can choose who it affects."
Your stomach dropped.
That meant-
Izuku's One For All was sealed.
A flicker of frustration crossed his face before he forced himself to focus. His sharp gaze swept across the area, searching for a weakness in Paulo's ability.
Then, his eyes locked onto something.
There.
A weak spot in the quirk-nullifying field-just barely visible at the very edge of its range. If he could push past it, he could reactivate his quirk.
