CHAPTER 127: Sunlight Through Broken Skies
You returned to U.A. just as the afternoon sun began dipping behind the buildings, painting everything in a soft, tired gold - the exact way you felt inside.
Not broken.
Not overwhelmed.
Just... used. Quiet. Steady.
Your steps echoed faintly in the lobby, and that's when you saw him.
Izuku stood near the entrance - hands in his pockets, posture relaxed, eyes warm when they found you.
Not hovering.
Not anxious.
Just present, as if he'd been waiting without needing to check the clock once.
He offered a small smile.
"You're back."
You nodded, letting out a breath you hadn't realized you'd been holding.
"Yeah. Home was... good. Hard, but good."
"I'm glad," he said softly. "You look lighter."
For a moment you simply stood there - the quiet between you comfortable and grounding.
Then Izuku's expression shifted, becoming more serious.
Not troubled.
Not nervous.
Just... resolute.
"Y/N," he began gently, "there's something I need to ask you."
You stepped closer.
"Of course."
He took in a slow breath, meeting your eyes with unwavering sincerity.
"Will you come with me to the hospital?"
You blinked - not because you were confused, but because you could feel the weight behind his words.
Izuku continued, voice steady:
"Before the end... during the last fight... Shigaraki said something to me."
His hands tightened slightly.
"He asked me to tell Spinner. Not a threat. Not a warning. Just... a message. Something he didn't want lost."
He glanced down at the floor for a moment, not in shame but in reflection - honoring a man who had been swallowed by a monstrous legacy.
"I want to do it right," he said softly. "Spinner deserves to hear it. And I don't want to go in there with a bunch of guards or pressure around him."
His eyes lifted back to yours - steady, trusting.
"I thought... if you were there... it would feel safer for both of us. Not because I'm afraid, but because I want to give Spinner space to breathe. And you understand that kind of thing better than anyone."
He didn't need to say more.
You already understood exactly why he'd asked you.
You stepped forward, your hand brushing his arm in a quiet promise.
"I'll come," you said immediately. "You don't have to explain. I know how important this is."
Izuku exhaled - not in relief, but in gratitude.
A softer look touched his face.
"Thank you."
You shook your head.
"No need. If it matters to you, it matters to me."
For a moment, the world around you felt still again.
Like the long war hadn't taken everything.
Like some things - the important things - had survived.
Izuku offered you his hand, not out of hesitation but intention.
"Let's go, then," he murmured.
You took it.
You both walked out of U.A. - toward the hospital, toward Spinner, toward unfinished words waiting to be delivered, and toward healing that belonged to more than just the two of you.
