"They had their whole lives in front of them." Ethan leans on the table in the observation deck, then bang his hand on it. "They never should've been here. We can't jump. We can't use our impulse engines. Why hasn't the Achaia taken us out?"
"The only way to know for sure, is to ask them." Richard answers him.

Ethan and Richard go to the particle accelerator room to talk to Iara. William appears there.
"We have no idea what will happen if Iara establishes a connection." William says.
"What would you suggest instead? Morse code? Smoke signals?-" Richard asks him.
"We gotta figure out what the Achaia want." Ethan tells him.
"And what if they want her?"
"I'll do it. I'll help." Iara says and they look at her.
"You will?"
"We need a bridge. I can be that bridge."
"Iara-" William says but she interrupts him.
"I already am." She looks at Ethan and he nods. "Here goes nothing."
Iara's eyes glows blue for a moment, then they stop glowing and she looks at Ethan.
"They wanna talk peace, Ethan. With you."

Erik waits impatiently, wanting to know how Jana is and asks for a sign to know she is okay. A door opens, and thinking it leads to his daughter he runs through, but it leads him outside the Artefact. Seth Gage introduces himself and says that the Department of Homeland Security sent him. Erik tells him he wants to talk to Harper, but Seth tells him that they have no idea where Harper is and tells him they should talk.

The crew stands in the mess hall together. Ethan makes a toast for everyone that's lost their lives on the mission till now.
"August, Oliver, Beauchamp, Sasha. They all should be here right now, but they're not. There is nothing that I can say. There are no words to relieve the pain that we are all feeling right now. They were soldiers in a war who died making the ultimate sacrifice, protecting our planet, our lives, and humanity. I can tell you this, that they did not die in vain.. because we will finish this. To our fallen friends."
"To our fallen friends." Everyone repeats.
While someone else says a few words, Ethan discreetly move his hand to hold yours, which isn't something that would be unusual for the two of you in a situation like this. But you move your hand away. Frowning sadly at the floor, Ethan fists his hand and clench his jaw to keep his tears at bay. His tears now not just for the people that's lost their lives on this mission, but for what he has lost with you.

"I've completed my scans of the Achaian ring, uh.. as much as I was able to."
"What am I walking into?"
You frown, now realising he's actually going to go over there and talk with the aliens. It just hadn't sunk in properly for you yet.
