Chapter 41 - Zakir

(S1:E10)
Ethan is going down to Canis Majoris' surface with the shuttle with Jason and Oliver, flying through a thick cloud.

"How's it looking?" You ask from the observation deck on the Salvare.

"Like a whole lot of nothing." He tells you.

"You should be clearing through the cloud cover in three.. two.. one."

They get through and get a visual of the surface.

"We got eyes on you." You say. "Now the million dollar question: Do they?"

"Not that we know of." Jason says.

"Make sure you keep it that way." You tell them.

"There. Artefact, 10 o'clock." Ethan says. "I am never gonna get used to seeing one of these things."

"William, are you picking up any changes is it's energy signature?" Jason asks.

"No, no changes." William answers, standing beside you on the bridge. "Perhaps the Achaia aren't aware of our presence after all."

"Guess the element of surprise is gonna be ours. Taking us in." Ethan starts the landing procedure. "We'll set down as close as we can to the alien city, and then go the rest of the way on foot."

"So far, so good."

"Please don't jinx us." Oliver tells Jason.

Getting out of the shuttle, they glance around. Ethan turns to the other two.

"This is a recon mission. We gather intel and intel only. Jason, we'll make our way to the city on foot."

"We're looking at a 13k hike." Jason shows him the map on his tablet.

"What about these cave systems over here?" He points at the map.

"Those are ruins. William scanned them."

"I wanna check them out on the way." Ethan says and then turn to Oliver. "If anything happens to us, you and the Salvare hightail it to Earth. You warn them the Achaia are not friendly. Only use comms if absolutely necessary. If they don't know we're here, let's keep it that way as long as possible."

"Understood."

Ethan walk away but Jason turns to Oliver, seeing his nervous expression.

"Hey, you're gonna be okay, alright? He's right. If anything happens to us, you get off this rock." He reassures him and Oliver nods. Then Jason run to catch up with Ethan.

"Yn. Jason and I are making our way to the city." Ethan calls in to you.

"Copy that." You just say, your voice slightly bitter. Ethan frowns slightly, but then you clear your throat and try to act normal. "Be careful."

He smiles to himself. "We will."

August glance at you, then walk over to where you're working.

"Yn?"

"Yes, August." You turn your head to look at her, but with a blank look.

"I know that this is totally none of my business, but.."

You frown at her. "What?"

"You're mad at Ethan.. and I don't think it's just for him staying on the Salvare, because you know he did that to save you and everyone else.. There's something else.."

Not wanting to talk about it, you turn back to the screen. You weren't sure who it was that was in Ethan's room. You're pretty sure he's heterosexual, so the only option is August, being the only other girl of the ship. You feel annoyed with her sleeping with everyone on this ship. And you're extremely angry Ethan would sleep with her or even anyone on the ship.
