"Yn, William, talk to me." Richard says as he runs into the observation with Dillon.
"The ship just dropped out of FTL." You tell him.
"Jason repaired the damage." Richard says.
"It's not the FTL ring. There doesn't seem to be a mechanical problem." William tells him.
"It's not the Salvare. Look." You say and point to your screen.
"What is that? A pulsar?" Richard asks.
Dillon walk up beside you, looking at your screens with you.
"Not just any pulsar. It's a magnetar." He says.
"We need to jump back before the next wave hits."
"Our engines are destabilised from the sudden drop from FTL. We jump now-"
Dillon interrupts William. "And we're all burnt toast."
Iara appears. "Javier's in the particle accelerator. He needs help. He's having a seizure. Please."
"The magnetar must be affecting his implant." William says.
"Zayn, Javier needs you. Particle accelerator, now." Richard calls him.
"On my way." Zayn answers and Iara disappears.
"Can we stabilise the FTL array?" Richard asks.
"There's no time. The next blast is imminent." William tells him.
...
Zayn and Bernie help Javier in the med lab. Then another energy burst impact hits and Javier goes unconscious.
...
"An Achaian ring just appeared on our scanners. 400,000 kilometres away." William informs.
"How long till it catches up?" Richard asks him.
"Based on my readings, it.. it's dead in the water.. Extensive damage to the exterior hull, extreme power fluctuations to the ring."
"How did this happen?" Dillon asks.
"The magnetar." Richard realises.
"It must affect the Achaian tech differently than ours." William says.
"What about life signs?" You ask William. "Ethan? Jason?"
"I'm not picking anything up."
You frown worriedly.
"Take us there." Richard orders.
...
"Do you, Yn Yln, take this man to be your husband?" Zayn asks you in the alien simulation in Jason's head.
You smile lovingly at Ethan. "I do."
"And do you, Ethan Stone, take this woman to be your wife?"
