"We trusted you, invited you on to our ship, made you feel welcome. And you sent in your thief."
"Not a thief. If my crew sent Iara, it's because they think that I'm in danger."
"They hacked this ship, Ethan. Stole information!"
"We know nothing about you."
"You could have tried asking."
"I'm here, asking!.. How many of you are there? On this ship? Out there? How long have you been exploring space? What do you want? What do you want from us?"
"I told you.. Peace."
Ethan pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs.
"We are trying to offer you a way home, Ethan."
"Not until you answer the questions."
She sighs. "You've always been so strong. I never realised how much you need protection. Let me help you. Let me be a mother."
"Once again.. you are not my mother, and I don't need protecting. And if you want me to deliver some kind of message for you, you need to start by telling me the truth, what you actually want from us! Otherwise, I will never tell Earth that the Achaia come in 'peace'."
"You're absolutely right, Ethan. We haven't been clear with you. So let's try this again, shall we?"
White light changes the scenery and Ethan finds himself on a graveyard. A small funeral with only one person standing by a small casket.
...
Jason spacewalks to the Achaian vessel, without any safety umbilical cord.
...
Ethan walks up to Erik and stand beside him.
"I let her down. I let them both down." Erik says looking at the picture of Niko and Jana by the casket.
"I was supposed to protect her."
"We were." Ethan corrects sadly, having promised Niko on her deathbed that he would take care of Erik and Jana. "How'd she die?"
"She got sick."
Ethan frowns at him. "She got better."
"She got sick again."
"How?"
"You know, Niko and I promised each other the day Jana was born that we'd always keep her safe. That we'd love her. And then you promised Niko that you would be there for Jana. But she died. You left, she got sick and she died. Crying for you, Ethan."
Ethan frowns sadly.
"I'm curious.. did Yn cry for you?"
He whips his head to his brother in confusion. "What?"
"When she died on the Salvare. When you couldn't save her."
