Did I say surprise? Sorry, I meant disappointments. Stress on the plural!!!
He arrived late, with no message, no call, and nothing. On top of that, he isn't that good-looking.
*Yeh toh chalta phirta red flag hai re!*
(This is a walking red flag!)
"Exactly!"
*I'm talking about you! Who judges someone by their looks!?*
"Fine! I agree, looks and character don't necessarily go hand in hand but you get my point right!?"
"Sorry for my tardiness." He apologised as soon as we met.
*See! He isn't that bad!*
"It's ok." This is getting awkward. What do I do next?
"Shall we order? Unless you have already done that!"
"I haven't actually. We'll order and then talk." Seriously, why is this so awkward? The talking stage indeed is the most difficult one. I wonder how Bhoomi and Mr Gowda overcame it.
*Why are you thinking about them now? You are on a date with your potential would be. Stop thinking about other couples.*
"Penny for your thoughts!"
"They aren't that important. Did you decide on what to order?"
"I'm confused. Why don't you order for us? Whatever you decide, say two of it."
I nodded in response, signalled to the waiter and placed the order.
"Please tell me about yourself. What do you expect from this marriage?"
Woah! Slow down, tiger! I'm just here to meet you, not discuss marriage details.
"It'll be better for us to get to know each other as much as we can today. We can then decide about marrying or not!"
"Ouch! Why do I sense a hesitation from your end?" He asked.
"Let me be honest with you! I'm currently not looking to get married. This..." I gestured between the two of us. "This was forced upon me by my father. He wanted me to meet you once and then..."
"And then what? Discuss marriage details right!" He continued when I gave a confused expression. How could he possibly know what my father had planned? "I know because it was the same thing my dad told me before I left to come here."
"So, you too don't want to marry?" I asked delighted more than ever. I was thinking of ways to get him to reject me, but he doesn't want this either.
"I didn't want to..." Uh-oh, this doesn't sound good. "But now, after seeing you, things might have changed."
