It hasn't even been a few days and they are calling me! How desperate are these people?
"Pick up the damn call!" Appa hissed, he was watching a recorded match! "That stupid ringtone of yours is too loud and obnoxious. You're disturbing my match!"
"Yeah right! That's a recorded one. You can pause it as well." I took the remote in hand and paused the game. "Like this!"
"Give it back! Nodu chanagiralla, heltidini. Sumne wapas kotbidu!"
(See, it won't be good, I'm telling you. Just give it back!)
"No. Your punishment is not watching it until I'm done with this call."
"Punishment? What has this old man done to deserve such punishment?" He started his drama.
Before I could reply, my phone started ringing again. The caller was Vijay, Bhoomika's dad.
"Appa, shh!" I showed him the phone and he stayed quiet.
"Put it on speaker." He said as I received the call. So, I did.
"Hello, Mr Gowda. Hope we aren't disturbing you."
"I was a bit busy but it's fine. What do you want?" I replied.
"We have arranged a dinner for you and Aravind Desai, Amrutha's husband."
"WHAT!? Amrutha got married?"
"No. But it is bound to happen, that's what Sagar has told everyone."
"What the actual hell!" Appa mouthed. I signalled him to calm down.
"She isn't married, which means Desai isn't her husband. Now tell me what is this dinner for?"
"Nothing, just so that the both of you can get acquainted with the family."
"Oh! Fine then. I'll be there. Just message me all the details." I cut the call immediately.
"Are they mad?" Appa asked. "Sorry, sorry. What am I even asking? They are psychos. Who does that?"
"Appa calm down. We don't know why Sagar is hell-bent on getting Amrutha married. We need to stop it."
"And how do you intend to do that?"
"By telling the truth. I'm not waiting any longer. If they want to progress with both the alliances we need to cut them short. Let me attend this dinner, after which I will reject Bhoomika's proposal. I'm sure once I do that, there will be an uproar..."
"Don't rush now. We've planned so much and don't spoil it."
"I won't Pa! Because I'm sure they'll start blaming Amrutha for everything and that is when we step in and break the reality to her."
