Chapter Thirty-one

Chapter 31

Marjorie's POV

As Reece was cooking the supper I took the twins up to their room and settled them down for the night, they have been sleeping longer which has been great I grab the baby monitor switch it on, then I go over to my bedroom and I change out of my jeans shirt and into my jogging bottoms and one of Reece's hoodies. I checked on the twins again and they were still asleep. I went back downstairs and walked into the kitchen. Reece was standing looking out of the window towards Eric, Carly, Viv and Siobhan. I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist. "Hey gorgeous" he said

"What are you thinking about?" I asked

"Eric, I couldn't believe his parents and how they treated him, he's a good kid, and they treat him like shit, some people shouldn't be parents. Please don't let me turn out like my father" he replied

"Hey baby, you are nothing like your father, you adore Kate and Jack, plus you have fostered Carly and now you have taken Eric in, you are an amazing person, stop doubting yourself"

He turned around and kissed me "I love you Mrs. Knight"

"I love you too" I replied

"Right the food is ready, can you grab the salad and garlic bread"

I picked up the salad and garlic bread and followed him outside, we served up the lasagne and everyone tucked in to their food.

Once everything was cleared away the plates and leftover food, Reece put the leftovers in a plastic box and handed it to Viv. "I thought you could have the rest for your break in work"

"Thanks, I will enjoy this tomorrow" she replied

Carly and Eric decide to go and watch tv in the pool house, they say goodnight to everyone Eric wraps his arm around Carly's waist as they walk across the garden.

"How long have they been together?" asked Siobhan

"Only a few weeks, apparently a delivery driver at the nursery came on to Carly and Eric told him what for, then they got talking and started to get closer, Carly was the first person he turned to when his parents threw him out" I replied

"Oh, that's so sweet" replied Vivian

"I know, I have a feeling they will be together forever" I replied

"Let's hope so" I added.

We spent the rest of the evening chatting with Viv and Siobhan, as we enjoyed the evening sunshine "Any plans for the weekend?" I asked

"Nothing as yet, why?" asked Siobhan

"Oh no reason, was just wandering, I'm not sure if we have anything planned this weekend" I looked over at Reece his eyes were closed

"I'm in the mood for a quiet weekend if I'm honest, just enjoy the summer, as I'm back at work soon"

"Really, I thought you were taking a year off" asked Siobhan

"I was but the twins have settled well, and Reece is so tired with the workload, that I thought I would get the twins settled in at the nursery then go back to work, I can take some of the day-to-day workload off Reece and Autumn as they have both been working from my nursery" I replied

"I'm going to pop in tomorrow and book in some settling in sessions, then get them in a routine" I added

"That sounds like a good idea babe" Reece said as he stood up

"I knew you couldn't stay away for a year" he added

"Are you annoyed" I asked

"No not at all, I think Autumn will be glad to have you back at your nursery, she can concentrate on Eric and his apprenticeship"

"Where did you come up with idea?" I asked

"It was Laura she was telling me about what the hospitals are doing to get qualified nurses, some are doing their training through apprenticeships, they go to university 2 days a week, then 2 days on placement. Eric will do Monday and Tuesday at university then the rest of the week working with me and Autumn at head office, until he gets his degree, then he can continue working to become business manager" replied Reece

"That's a really good idea" added Siobhan

"Well, if it's a success then we can look to doing more in the future" he added

Viv checked the time "Well Bon, I think it's time we went home and enjoyed the rest of our child free night" Viv winked as she said this, and Siobhan blushed

"If you're not busy on Saturday, do you fancy meeting for a coffee and doing some shopping?" I asked Siobhan

"Er.... yeah, sounds good, I don't think we have any plans do we Viv?"

"No... no I'm working, and Jamie is at my mum's so you will be free"

"Okay great I will ring you Friday to make definite plans"

"Okay great, speak to you Friday"

Viv and Siobhan left, I went to check on Carly and Eric, and when I looked inside the pool house, they were sitting on the couch, Carly was curled up next to Eric, he had his arm around her, and both were fast asleep. I decided to leave them asleep, and I headed upstairs. Reece was just checking the house was locked and followed me up, I was already in bed wearing one of his t-shirts, I cuddled into his chest, and I fell asleep.
