Chapter Thirty-Eight

Reece's POV

It's Sunday morning, I wake up and Marjorie isn't there her side of the bed is cold, I get up out of bed, and walk over to the twin's room, they aren't in their beds, I walk to the record room, I can hear The Doors When the music's over being played, I slowly walk in, and sit in my chair, I look at her, she is sitting looking at the twins, they were asleep. She looked at me, she had been crying, I gently placed my hand on her arm.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"If I'm honest, no I'm not okay, I'm dreading tomorrow, giving evidence and reliving it all, and I find out who fathered Stevie" I replied

Her phone buzzed again "and my fucking phone hasn't stopped with people messaging me"

I picked her phone up and switched it off, I turned my phone off "I will ask Carly, Eric and Stevie to switch their phones off today, we will have a family day, no interruptions I will e-mail Aut and Mia off my laptop tell them all the phones are off and we are not to be contacted today" I stand up and kiss her on the top of her head, I walk out of the room, before I do I change the record I put on Pearl Jam's album Ten.

I go into my office, and I email Aut and Mia informing them that we are not to bed contacted today, we are having a family day we are spending time with Marjorie, both reply immediately. I walk downstairs Carly, Eric and Stevie are all sitting watching tv.

"I need to ask all three of you a huge favor, can you all switch your phones off? We are having a family day, and we don't want to be interrupted"

"It's okay pops we have already switched them off we were fed up with people messaging us asking about mama" replied Carly

"So, what are we going to do?"

"Well, I thought me and Eric could take the twins to the shops and get some supplies, whilst you and Stevie could spend time with your mama just the three of you, then we will just relax and see how the day goes, your mama is in for a tough few weeks with this trial, especially as she is giving evidence first" I replied

I went back upstairs, got changed and went into the record room. Marjorie has fallen asleep in her chair; I gently wake her up. "Hey baby, I'm going to take Kate and Jack out for a walk with Eric and get a few things for today, and Carly and Stevie are going to spend a few hours with you, they have all switched their phones off"

She smiled "Thank you my love, I will go and get a shower and get changed then go and see my girls" She replied

I scooped the twins up and kissed her on the lips. "See you in a couple of hours gorgeous"

"See you later my love"

I went downstairs, Eric had got the prams ready, and a changing bag and we headed out.

As we headed out with the twins, we walked through the park, and enjoy the morning sunshine as we get near to the duck pond we stop and look at the ducks and as we are standing there, we hear someone calling Eric

"Eric is that you?"

He turned around "MUM DAD"

"How are you son?" asked his dad

"I'm fine, this is Reece, I'm living at his house" he replied

His dad looked me up and down, I put my hand out "Nice to meet you sir"

He didn't reply, he looked at me "So you have put him up eh"

"Yes, my wife and I couldn't see him on the streets, he is a valued employee as well, he is our first business apprentice and is doing well according to my sister Autumn"

They just looked at me "oh so you are the one who has put ideas in his head that he can go to university, when he should be providing for us"

I could not believe what he has just said "What the hell, you want your son to provide for you, he's 18 years of age, he is just starting his life, and you expect him to provide for you, is that why you threw him out after, he passed his driving test and bought a car?"

"He wasted money that he could have used to provide for us" his dad replied

"You are unbelievable, you did him a favour throwing him out, come on Eric lets go"

We walked off "Thank you for that Reece"

"No problem, they never have to bother you again, you have a home for life with me and Marjorie" I replied

We got to the shops, and we bought snacks, sweets, soft drinks, then I got flowers for Marjorie, Stevie and Carly and Eric bought each of them a box of chocolates each.

We went home just as the twins were starting to wake up, we walked through to the kitchen, and we could hear laughing coming from the garden, as we carried on through to see Marjorie, Carly and Stevie chatting and laughing. "This is a lovely sight to see the three of you chatting "I'm telling Stevie stories about us getting together, and the bumpy ride we had" Marjorie replied

"I can't believe you didn't realise Mia was gay" Stevie laughed

"Oh, not that again" I said as I passed Kate to Marjorie, and I picked Jack up feed them. Once they were fed and changed, we settled into our family day, laughing and joking and telling stories of the nursery. Not having the phones on felt great, as the day went on, we got the board games out and watched as Marjorie tried to cheat at monopoly.

It got to 10pm and we were all starting to feel tired Eric and Carly decided to sleep in Carly's room, so we all headed to bed, we settled the twins in their room for the night then we went to bed, as we got in we switched our phones on, as they came to life there were a string of messages from our friends then I saw an email from Aut, about Marjorie's mum I looked at Marjorie, she was walking across the bedroom in one of my t-shirts "Hey babe, Autumn has emailed me, she has been gathering evidence against your mother, she has enough to prosecute her, do you want to press charges?" I asked her

"Yes, I want to press charges she has got away with everything so far, its time she was held responsible"

"There is one other thing that I think you should know, your stepfather has signed everything over to you, what's left of his money, his business and three properties one in England, one in Spain and the other in France, once all the deductions have gone you are still left with a sizable amount of money"

"How much?"

"WHAT?"

"How much?"

"Well, I can't get an exact amount, but the ballpark amount is 60 million pounds"

"My mother gets nothing?" she asked

"Yes, it's all in your name, from midnight tonight you will be a muti-millionaire" I replied

"Okay, split it into four trust funds, for the kids, I don't want any of it, and ask Autumn to sell the houses, I don't want to set foot in any of them then the money can be split between the trust funds" she replied

I emailed Autumn back with everything that Marjorie had just told me, i switched my laptop off, set my alarm for 6am, I will be up early and drop the twins off at nursey in the morning then got to the courthouse with my wife, to support her.

A/N I have written two chapters today, as I'm back on my placement for the next couple of days and my results of my last assessments tomorrow, I will look to get the Trial chapters out Sunday, hopefully. Thank you again for reading and voting on Wreckage
