Chapter Thirty-Nine

Reece's POV

I wake up before my alarm, I have been lying awake in bed for most of the night, I know Marjorie hasn't slept at all, she cuddled into me all night I could tell she hadn't slept. My alarm went off at 6am, I kissed her on the top of her head. "I know you didn't sleep last night, try and get an hour please; I will get the twins ready for nursery" she nodded and closed her eyes.

I got a shower then dressed, I went and got Kate and Jack up and fed, then bathed and ready for nursery, I went into our bedroom with them, Marjorie was sitting up in bed,

"There's mama, let's say see you later to her" as we walked over Kate put her hands out towards Marjorie, "Come here my princess, you have a good day in nursery with Aunty Char, I have something very important to do today, it will be hard but I will be thinking about you and your brother the whole time" she says as she is cuddling Kate.

I lean down with Jack, and she kisses him on the top of his head "You be good for Aunty Char, me and daddy will come and collect you both later"

I scoop Kate up out of Marjorie's arm's I reach the bedroom door, I turn and look at Marjorie, "I have made breakfast fresh coffee, you go and try to eat something, I will be back soon"

Marjorie nodded, I went downstairs Stevie was up, "Can you get the bags for the twins I'm taking them to nursery, I have booked them in from 7.50am this morning, I have told your mum that breakfast is ready, can you try and get her to eat something please"

She handed me the twins' bags for nursey, I had put them in their car seats, and I got in my car and headed to nursery. The drive only takes 15 minutes, I pull into the car park, I could see Charlotte's car and Winter's car I knew my two are in very good hands, I let myself in and go to the baby room, I walk in and Charlotte walks over "Good morning how are Kate and Jack today?"

"They are good, they slept well last night, Kate is now taking bottles now, we have weaned her off breastfeeding, Jack will happily take anything" I replied

"How's Marjorie?" she asked

"She didn't sleep a wink, we had a family day yesterday, everyone's phones were switched off it was just what we all needed."

"We will catch up with you all later, Winter and I are working the full day, here, Sorcha is working in the toddler room. I will message Mia on my break" she replied

"Okay Thank you Char"

"Send Marjorie our love"

"I will, bye you two, be good for Aunty Char and Uncle Winter" As I walk out of the nursery, I see a tall man standing by the gates, as I get closer to him, he looks familiar

"Can I help you?" I ask him

"I'm looking for Marjorie Van Gould?"

"Can I ask who you are?"

"I'm Jack Bailey.... her real father I'm led to believe she is the manager here"

"Yes, she is, she is also my wife, she is no longer Marjorie Van Gould, she is Marjorie Knight." I replied

"Knight? Are you Roger Knights son?" he asked

"Yes Iam, do you know him?" I asked

"Yes, I was one of his first investors many years ago, I remember seeing you and your sister once when I was at a party at his house" he replied

"Well, he's in prison now for a long time"

"Oh, it all caught up with him then? I pulled out of his investments when I found out what he was doing"

"Me and my sister now run the whole company, and I can assure you there are no illegal deals or investments" I replied

"Well, that's good to know anyway is Marjorie working today?" he asks

"Er no not today, we have a prior appointment, she probably won't be in all weeks"

"Oh okay, would you tell her I was here" he handed me a piece of paper with his mobile number on it.

"Ask her to ring me"

"Okay I will ask her; I can't make any promises though"

"Thank you" he walks off

I notice Char walking out towards me "Who was that?" she asked

"That was Marjorie's real father"

"I thought he was dead?"

"No, it was another lie from her mother and stepfather, Look I must go, please don't tell anyone who he was, I don't want it to get back to Marjorie, I will speak to her when I feel the time is right"

"Of course, no problem" She replied

I got into my car and drove home; I parked on the driveway and went inside. I went to check on everyone in the kitchen, Marjorie was sitting trying to eat, she was ready for court, hair and makeup perfectly done.

"I will go and get changed and be right back down" I said I headed to my bedroom, as I was walking through the hallway there was a knock at the door, I opened it standing there was Siobhan. "I thought I would travel with you and Marji to the courthouse, Viv, Vicky and Laura are meeting us there"

"Oh, Siobhan thank you, I think she needs a friend she's in the kitchen, help yourself to coffee"

"No problem, anything for my best friend" she walked through to the kitchen, and I could hear the sigh of relief from Marjorie, I go upstairs to our room, Majorie has left her favourite suit out for me to wear, I grab a quick shower have a shave, I put my suit on, spray the aftershave Marjorie loves on me and I head downstairs. I walk into the kitchen everyone is ready, and Marjorie has eaten as well, Siobhan was just putting the last of the dishes in the dishwasher "Took a bit of persuasion, she has eaten"

"Are we all ready?" I asked

Marjorie got up from the kitchen table and wrapped her arms around me, she hugged me tightly "I'm ready"

I bent down and kissed her.

"Let's go" we went outside to my car, Marjorie got in the passenger seat, and I closed the door, Siobhan was standing by her car, Stevie was travelling with her she had got in her car.

"Before we go, I just want to tell you, Marjorie's father was outside the nursery this morning, he wanted to speak with Marjorie, I told him I would speak with her when the time was right, he used to invest with my father, then stopped investing when he found out about his dodgy dealings"

"What the fuck? What's his name?"

"Jack Bailey" I replied

"Let me look into things, see what I can find out, I know Mia has gathered information, but I can see if I can find out anything else" she replied

"Thanks Siobhan" I replied

"It's for Marjorie, let's get all the information before she speaks with him" she replied

We all got into our cars and headed to the courthouse.

The court case will probably be the next couple of chapters then I will be looking to bring the story to a close.
