Chapter Thirty-Two

Chapter 32

Marjorie POV

I woke to an empty bed, Reece's side of the bed was already cold, so I knew he had been up for a while, I could smell breakfast being cooked, I got up and went up to Carly's room, she was laying across the bed snoring, I head back downstairs and check on the twins, they weren't in bed, they must of woken up and that's what got Reece up. I walked down to the kitchen I could hear Reece talking with the twins. There was someone else there too, I couldn't quite work out who it was. As I got closer, I realized it was Stevie, I stood in the doorway of the kitchen, leaned against the door post and folded my arms, Reece and Stevie were sitting with their back to me, and the twins were sitting in their highchairs facing me, I was listening to the conversation between Reece and Stevie. I don't know the question Stevie asked but Reece's answer made me fall in love with him even more.

"I know Marjorie's upbringing was tough, she lost her dad when she was young then after mum remarried the abuse happened, you were born, it broke her heart when you were taken away from her. She was always scared she would turn out like her mother when she was pregnant, she is nothing like her mother, she is an amazing human being, I was in love with her long before we met. I thank my lucky stars that I crashed her date on Valentines Day, if I hadn't of done that, I wouldn't be standing in this kitchen talking to you"

"Really?" asked Stevie

I didn't hear what Reece mumbled; I stood in the doorway for a few more minutes, leaning against the wall then I cleared my throat, and both turned around "Hiya mum" said Stevie as she got up from the seat. 

"I didn't know you were coming down for a visit" I replied 

"Er yeah thought I would surprise you" she replied

I sat down and poured myself a cup of coffee, and took a mouthful, I looked at Stevie 

"There's something else isn't there?" I asked 

"Yes, Will proposed, I accepted everything has been great, until this last week?" 

"Why what happened?" I asked 

"It was the other day I was coming out of work; it had been a bad shift, we had a cardiac arrest in resus and the patient died, they were only young, Will was waiting outside for me, I didn't know he was there, I was talking to the Dr I had been working with, he was asking if that once I qualified as a nurse if I would consider continuing my training and become an assistant practitioner we stood chatting for a few minutes then I spotted Will I said goodbye to the Dr and I walked over to Will, and he was angry and told me I shouldn't of been speaking to the Dr and that the Dr was flirting with me, then he grabbed my arm and pulled me into the car" 

I looked over at Reece I could see the anger in his face, I bit the inside of my cheek, 

"He had never done anything like that before?" I asked 

"No, he had never done anything like that before, so I decided to come down here give me time to think, he scared me" 

"Stevie, look I haven't been in your life for long, and I have no right to say anything, but Will's behaviour is not right, he treated you like a possession, you can talk to whoever you want to, and you certainly should never be scared of who you are in a relationship with." 

"Why do some men do that?" asked Reece as he picked Kate up and walked around the kitchen "I have 3 daughters who I will protect no matter what, and no man will treat any of them as if they are their, possession" he added 

"I spoke with my tutor, and I have taken a break for a month while I decide what I want to do. So, I thought I would come and visit you, Reece said I can stay here for the month" 

"I want to keep you safe, especially if Will turns up here...... If he does, I will get Autumn and Mia round" he added

"No violence" I said 

"Thats why I will get Aut and Mia round" 

"So, mum how about we take Kate and Jack out today? I would love to spend the day with you all," said Stevie 

"That sounds lovely, I will message Charlotte see if she is free and she can bring Harry" as we usually meet for coffee today" 

"Sounds great, I like Charlotte" 

"She's one of my closest friends, right I will go and get showered and dressed Reece can you get the twins ready?" I asked 

"What... yeah get the twins ready sure" 

"What's got you distracted?" I asked 

"Nothing.... work stuff" he replied 

He's planning something, I couldn't put my finger on it, I texted Charlotte about today, and we arranged to meet in coffee one. I headed back upstairs to my room; I was suddenly aware of arms wrapping around my waist. 

"Mama, I love you and thank you for taking Eric in," said Carly

"Hey, it's okay, I would never see him on the streets, I checked on the both of you last night and you had fallen asleep on the couch" 

"We were both so tired, we woke up at around midnight and I came to bed" 

"Well, we have a visitor for a few weeks, Stevie is here she's downstairs in the kitchen, dad has made breakfast, I'm getting ready to meet Char and Harry, with Stevie and the twins, do you want to come with us?" 

"I'm going to stay with Eric today" she replied 

"Okay my love, go and get some breakfast and say hi to Stevie" 

"Okay mama" 

I went into my room to get ready for today, I knew in the back of my mind something was going on, I just couldn't put my finger on it.

A/N 

My apologies for only just adding this chapter I have struggled to get it written, I think I will be ending Wreckage over the next few chapters. I have a few Ideas for a couple of other TNN fan fiction that I have started working on, so I will start publishing them soon.
