Chapter Forty- Eight

Marjorie's POV

Everyone had left the house; I was alone. I love my family and my friends, but I do like time to myself, I checked the time it was 9.30am so I had a shower. I sent Reece a picture of me as I got out of the shower, so he knows he is in for a good time tonight. After I got dressed, I went downstairs, picking up Carly's washing along the way, I tidied round, and sat down with a coffee and watched tv for a while, the next thing I was aware of was someone knocking at the front door, I checked the time it was 11.30, I must have fallen asleep on the couch

I got up and answered the door, standing there was Siobhan and Viv, "Hello you two, have you been waiting long?" I asked

"No, we have only just arrived why?" asked Viv

"I fell asleep on the couch, Kate was a bit unsettled last night, I was up a few times with her" I replied

"These are for you" said Siobhan as she handed me a large bouquet of flowers and a large box of chocolates.

"Oh, thank you, you didn't have to bring me anything" I replied

"We never arrive empty-handed" replied Siobhan

"Come in, I took them through to the kitchen and we sat down, I made a cup of tea, and joined them, once I had poured the tea out and took a mouthful I started to speak.

"I wanted you both here to talk to you about a few things, Siobhan as you know my stepfather had signed everything over to me, his business, houses and fortune, Autumn told me the deal you made for the house and the business I couldn't believe it, anyway as you know, I have never wanted to live the wealthy lifestyle, it's just not for me, so I have split the money between the kids, Stevie, Carly, Eric, Jamie, Kate and Jack, they each have a trust fund which they will get when they turn 25"

"Marjorie, you don't have to include Jamie" protested Viv

"He is my nephew, so he's included, also the sale of the house, Siobhan I don't know how you got the price you did but well done. Once the sale has gone through and the money is deposited in the bank, I will be transferring it all over to you, Siobhan for you to do whatever you want with it, I don't want to hear the word no, I don't want any proceeds from anything to do with my stepfather"

"Marjorie, I don't know what to say" replied Siobhan

"You don't have to say anything, I want you to have the money" I replied

We sat in a comfortable silence then Viv spoke "Marjorie I would like to ask you something, as you are Siobhan's older sister, I would like to ask for your blessing for Siobhan's hand in marriage"

I smiled "You didn't have to do that...... but I give you my blessing, now show now the ring"

Siobhan pulled her hand out and showed me the ring "Oh that is beautiful, have you picked a date?"

"Not yet" replied Siobhan

"We want to enjoy being engaged"

"How about after the wedding we have a meal to celebrate?" I suggested

"That would be lovely" replied Siobhan

"Are you going to use both your surnames?" I asked

"No, I will be taking Viv's surname, the sooner I get rid of Serpent the better" Siobhan replied

"What do you mean?" I asked

"I will tell you why, but not now okay?" replied Siobhan

I nodded in response and took another mouthful of my cup of tea.
