The day had come, graduation. The air was bittersweet, filled with lingering memories and hope for what's to come. The students were lingering around the halls, trying to hold onto this school and the people for as long as the could.
Kali held Carla's hand as they walked toward the great hall, where the ceremony would take place. Dragging their feet, they made their way.
Much to their dismay, they wore their school uniform, instead of a cute outfit. Still, it felt good to adjust their tie and button their shirts, since this was the last time they would.
Time flies so quickly, especially in a magical school where it can be altered. Spells to slow or speed up time were thrown around the castle a lot, and that messed with your perception of the moving clock.
"I can't believe everything that's happened this year." Carla talked as they walked along the castle, their gazes jumping from wall to wall, trying to memorize every small detail. "I mean, you started dating Slytherin royalty, Penelope cut us off, I have a suitor and we have an apartment lined up for August."
Putting the events into perspective, it did sound like a lot. "Yeah, I'm a bit sad about Penelope. Maybe I'll try to talk to her today. Just one last goodbye."
Carla sighed, understanding why she was doing it, but apologies should come from the person who did the damage. "If you want to."
The great hall was decorated, the house crests falling on the walls like silk. The sun shone through the huge windows, the stained glass coming to life. Every student that was leaving school sat with their respective houses, some mingling in the middle. So many recognizable faces.
Kali spotted Blaise at the Slytherin table and pulled Carla to say hi. Everyone was used to them dating, so they didn't even spare them a glance. Once they were in front of each other, she bent over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Then, did the same to his friends next to him.
"Last day." Draco greeted, motioning at the scene before them. "How are we feeling, ladies?"
Grinning at his choice of words, Carla shrugged. "We'll miss it, but better things are coming."
"Wise words, Atkinson." Blaise pointed at her, his eyebrows lifted in amusement. "The wedding is in three days, so you can't get rid of us that easily."
"Yes, we are very excited to stay at the Zabini estate for a week." Kali spoke, anticipation running through her veins to meet his mum and go to a wedding. "I'll talk to mum tomorrow and we'll pop into your home the day before the wedding to get settled."
Blaise nodded along to the plan. "Sounds perfect."
Looking around, everyone was taking their seats, eager to start the ceremony. "We should sit down. Meet us after."
The girls strutted to the Hufflepuff table, sitting down to some friends of theirs. One of them was Carla's plug, to which they owe him so much money that he doesn't care about. When they mention it, he shrugs them off with a smile on his face.
Another was a girl that took three classes with Kali and always dropped her quill, which they laughed about together. Next to her was a boy who came drunk to their dorm, knocking the door down to use the toilet. Across was a girl that was always sleeping in class and asked Kali for notes. A little farther was Carla's first kiss, a boy who had red hair and they called "Dracula". No one knows why they chose this nickname, it just stuck.
So many people with whom they have shaped their life with, shared so many memories with. These stone walls held the most amazing stories and funniest dialogue. Everyone grew up together, whether you talked to them or not, you noticed the changes.
