Mah and dad were back from their trip but they did emphasise that they were still planning on leaving again very soon. It was the weekend of the cleansing ceremony and an Imbeleko ceremony for the baby, Mah lost. I could only imagine how hard it must be for her and dad really.

Last week 'Mandisa' was apparently found dead in her apartment. They found her hanging from the ceiling, she had committed suicide. Honestly, I think she probably killed herself because dad focused on his marriage and family. Maybe Mandisa got depressed by that and killed herself. Mom didn't even want to entertain the idea of giving her sister a dignified funeral, instead she got her cremated and didn't even want to keep her ashes.

LJ and I were busy helping aunt Lihle cook. I was peeling potatoes while Junior was busy grating cabbage and carrots for the salad. Mah walks in with dad behind her.

Mah: "Are you guys done?" her eyes were bloodshot red including her nose.

Aunt Lihle: "Come here." she said pulling mah into her arms.

Mah: "I'm okay Skwi." they break off the hug and look into each other's eyes, seemingly communicating through their eyes. Dad just shakes his head abd excuses himself.

Mah: "Anywho, nina nobabili, what's going on with your sister?!" Junior and I share a glance before turning to Mah and Aunt Lihle who are both staring at us. I internally say a short prayer that Junior comes up with something quick because I seriously cannot lie to save my life.

Junior: "She said she wasn't feeling well."

Mah: "And the cryung she has been doing? Also why is her door locked?"

Junior: "Hhhaa Mah! We also don't know."

Mah: "Xolisa Nosihle kaLizwilenkosi?"

Me: "Mah?"

Mah: "What is happening with your sister?" I quickly shrug my shoulders.

Me: "Angazi mah."

Aunt Lihle: ""You both are lying! Go call your sister here right now!" I don't wait to be told twice, I rush inside the house. I bump into bhuti Sqalo on my way to Swe's room and he stops me.

Sqalo: "Uyaphi?"

Me: "Mah and Aunty said I must call Swe."

Sqalo: "No, don't. Uyazigowela mkosiyami. Tell them she went out with me."

Me: "Hhaa!"

Sqalo: "Please and you won't see me vele. Also make sure no one goes to my room."

Me: "Why?"

Sqalo: "Your sister in law is sleeping laphana and the 'rents can't find her there."

Me: "Can I see her?!"

Sqalo: "You will see her later!  Here." he hands me a R200 note.

Me: "Thank you!"

Sqalo: "Don't tell anyone about this. Go back to whatever you were doing."
