BAFANA MESULI MAJOLA

{FLASHBACK}

I was in an old friend's carwash in Soweto, getting my car washed. While I waited, I decided to sit under a shade with a cooldrink in hand. Just as I was minding my business, this woman sat next to me.

Woman: "Hey." I nod.

Woman: "Don't you recognise me?"

Me: "I'm sorry but am I supposed to remember you?" she chuckles before getting comfortable on a chair next to me.

Woman: "I guess you don't like me huh?! I'm the lady that tried helping you at Woolworths." I frown.

Me: "I don't understand why you are here though?"

Woman: "Okay I guess you don't want my kindness so I will just lay it on the table for you."

Me: "Lay what?"

Woman: "I need you to do a little task for me."

Me: "Why would i do that?"

Woman: "Because I have something very important that belongs to you and you have no choice right now..."

Me: "Eh sisi, lalela la! This isn't some movie or whatever. Ungangijwayeli kabi mina." this woman laughs hysterically before hardening her face and stares at me coldly.

Woman: "Just know that if you don't do it, you will live in regret."

Me: "Mxm."

Woman: "I will start by destroying your family one by one, starting with your precious mother. I will burn that hospital of hers with patients inside so she will face a lawsuit that will ruin her whole life! And then daddy dearest will lose his life and lastly I will ruin each rascals life in that house."

Me: "You won't do that!"

Woman: "Ohh try me, precious boy! You don't want to anger me. Better get back to me within a week." she says and stands up.

Woman: "Make a wise decision young man." she says throwing a business card on my face and then walks off.

{PRESENT}

I will not be manipulated like that is what I thought at that moment but little did I know that, that woman meant business. I have never felt this guilty in my entire existence. I guess I am responsible enough for my mother's pain right now. I mean if I wasn't stubborn and actually did what that woman asked of me then my mother's hospital wouldn't have been burnt down.

My phone rings next to me, disrupting my thoughts. My heart beats faster as I notice that it's my dad calling. This man is like an experienced investigator, he can find out anything and everything about anyone.

Me: "Majola."

Dad: "Please come home, your mother needs you guys all here, by her side. I need you guys to stay with her for a couple of hours, I have to be somewhere else right now."

Me: "Uhm okay."

Dad: "Yeah, hurry. Oh and there is something I also want to tell you guys."

Me: "oh?"

Dad: "I want you to meet someone."

Me: "I hope you are not having another wife and leaving mom?!"

Dad: "Musa ukuhlanya wena mfana!"

Me: "Okay, I'll be there." I get up and clean my room abit before grabbing my keys and leaving.

Getting home, I find my little siblings watching TV with their friend, Xoli. I greet before taking a seat.

Me: "Sivakashelwe wuwe Xoli?!"

Xoli: "Yebo." she responds chuckling.

Junior: "Aybo phela she is..."

Sweswe: "Shut up Junior! Dad will inform them, it's not our place." Junior rolls his eyes.

Me: "I'm hungry, Junior please make me something to eat."

Junior: "Aybo! Why me?!"

Me: "I'm asking as your brother." he sighs loudly before standing up and walks away. Uncle Jerry walks into the living room and sits next to Swe who shifts away from him.

Me: "Yini Swe?!" she shakes her head.

Uncle Jerry: "Asisakwazi mshana." he says looking at me.

Me: "Hhay I'm around baba." he nods.

Uncle Jerry: "How's work?"

Me: "I long quit laphana."

Uncle Jerry: "Haw why?! Your father won't be happy."

Me: "He knows."

Swe: "Excuse me please." she pulls her friend up gently and walks away with her.
