BAFANA MESULI MAJOLA
I was currently cuddling with Remy while we watched a movie on Prime Video. Sqalo decided to move out of our flat since we are constantly arguing about my relationship with Remy. He believes Remy is manipulative and verbally abusive towards me and I think he is ridiculous. He even went as far as denying me to attend any parties he may host with Remy. He always emphasises that I mustn't bother attending any of his parties if I ever consider bringing Remy along.
Remy: "Baby?"
Me: "Yes?"
Remy: "When am I meeting your parents kganti nna?"
Me: "Why?"
Remy: "To show me how much you actually care and how important am I to you."
Me: "Remy, come on. You don't need my parents approval to be assured of my intentions. That is quite insulting."
Remy: "What's so hard about letting me meet your parents?! Your ex-girlfriend did."
Me: "So?" She huffs angrily and pushes my arm off her waist, scratching me in the process. She leaves the room. My phone rings and it's Ntokozo.
Me: "Maka Mfana?"
Ntokozo: "Hey Fana. Can you please try ordering an uber for me and Zizwe to your parents house?"
Me: "An Uber?!"
Ntokozo: "Yes, my phone died last night so I'm using a small phone."
Me: "I will fetch you guys, I will not let you guys use an uber."
Ntokozo: "We'll be waiting."
Me: "Okay. Give me half an hour." I hang up. Remy walks in fuming.
Remy: "Two seconds after an argument and you are already seeking comfort from your married baby mama?!" I click my tongue and ignore her. I go to the kitchen to grab my car keys. I feel a sting on my back. This girl literally threw a knife at me.
Me: "Are you fvcken crazy?!" I shout and she cowers a bit.
Remy: "It was a mistake." I chuckle. Last night she got mad and threatened to burn me alive then said she was joking but i know she is capable.
Me: "Lalela la wena, you better pack your shvt and leave my apartment. It's over between us."
Remy: "What?! That isn't going to happen! You want to go back to your baby mama?! I will wait here for you until you come to me. We both know you have loved me for a year now abuti. Your home is with me papa!" She screams following me to the car. I leave her there, driving off to fetch my people.
I find Ntokozo, impatiently waiting outside her door with a big travel bag. I get out of the car and go help her. I first kiss my son and then carry the bags to the car. I load them carefully then help her settle properly with my son. I plant another kiss on him before closing their door and getting in the driver's seat.
Ntokozo: "Why are you bleeding?!"
Me: "Where?!"
Ntokozo: "On your back."
Me: "Don't worry about it. Wena, what's zisha with the bags?"
Ntokozo: "Your mom requested for Zizwe to visit them for some time." I chuckle shaking my head.
Me: "And your husband is coming back?" She shyly nods. I have come to learn that her husband is in the military but what used to confuse me the most was the fact that Ntokozo lived in a township rental two room house. I then did my research and found out that the bastard is married in Swaziland too. He even has
Ntokozo: "I'm divorcing him."
Me: "K'shuthi siyakubongela." She then keeps quiet until we get home. I offload the bags and open the door for them. I let her walk ahead of me, mom walks to us excitedly and takes her grandson.
Mom: "Nansi insizwa kaGogo wayo." She cooes in a baby voice.
Me: "Mah, you haven't greeted us."
Mom: "How are you maka mzukulu wami?"
Ntokozo: "I'm good mah." Mom nods and then throws me a threatening look before walking further in the house. I lead Ntokozo in, she settles in the lounge with mom.
Mom: "Wena why are you walking around bleeding?!" He asks as Sqalo walks in eating and settles next to mom, ready to carry his nephew.
Me: "It's nothing, I just got scratched." I partly lie. Sqalo clicks his tongue and excuses himself while mom hums in response.
Mom: "How are you my child?" She asks Ntokozo.
Ntokozo: "I'm okay mah. I'm slowly getting the hang of motherhood." Mom nods lightly.
Mom: "So what is the way forward for us? Do we approach your maiden family? Or your marital family for all the traditional necessities?"
Ntokozo: "My maiden family, kwaMavuso." Mom nods.
Mom: "Please give me your mother's details soon. We need to pay our respects so we can do an imbeleko ceremony for Zizwe."
Ntokozo: "Yebo mah"
Me: "I'm sorry to just jump in but can i ask?"
Ntokozo: "Sure."
Me: "Why not your marital family because according to my knowledge, I now have the responsibility to cleanse your husband and his house. I also need to pay for impregnating you."
Ntokozo: "We're in the process of divorce and we weren't really married in an honest way. We both were young, we eloped and decided to go to home affairs to get married. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing."
Me: "Mmhm. That means you lost contact with family?"
Ntokozo: "Yes."
