I was seriously getting tired of the endless texts, emails and phone calls from different numbers and email addresses. It was all Devone. I finally had the courage to face him today so I texted him that I want to see him. I quickly got ready, settled for some pair of jeans, a cropped sweater and some sneakers.

After packing my necessities into my bag, I headed out. I informed Gogo that I was leaving now then quickly rushed out before my brothers could see me. My brothers tend to take on dad's role whenever dad isn't around (roll eyes).

As I walked out the gate, his car was parked in the same spot as the last time he was here. I knock on his window as soon as I reach his car. He opens the door for me from the inside.

Dev: "Hey baby." he greeted and leaned to kiss me but I turned away from him. He shys away sitting back on his seat.

Me: "Hi. Can you drive somewhere quiet, maybe the park or the beach?"

Dev: "Okay." the whole drive is quiet, he drives past a kfc outlet and orders my favourite meal. He hands me the food after receiving the order.

Me: "Thank you." He smiles and nods.

Dev: "First of all, I would like to apologise for what you ahd to go through. The trauma and embarrassment of being humiliated in public by that woman."

Me: "Are you really married?"

Dev: "No."

Me: "Be honest with me please."

Dev: "I'm not married baby for real. Fanele is an ex, well ex-fiance to be specific. She and I were in a serious relationship and got engaged later on, I paid lobola for her but then we both started having different desires and they clashed which caused us to break up. We tried to rekindle our relationship a year later and she got pregnant. We had a som together. Again, we both started detaching which led to us being unfaithful to each other so we broke up again. For good, this time."

Me: "I hear all that but now, where does she get the guts and nerve to confront me like that and claim you as her husband?"

Dev: "A few months back, she had came to fetch our son from my place and I found her paging my phone. She tried causing an argument about me moving on but I told her off and I thought she heard me but I guess I was wrong. I'm really sorry baby."

Me: "I don't know what to believe now Devone. It all seems like excuses now.."

Dev: "Please trust me, I would never do you like that babe."

Me: "How can that be guaranteed? You have never told me about having a child too. You only telling me about him now because what that woman did."

Dev: "I'm sorry baby." I keep quiet. He takes out his phone from his pocket and presses it a few times before I hear it ringing.

Person: "Devone."

Dev: "Hey mah." My eyes pop out in shock.

His mom: "How are you son?"

Dev: "Not good mama. Remember the girl I told you about?!" he quickly steals a glance at me and then back at his phone. I wasn't about to be charmed by this.

His mom: "Yes?"

Dev: "Fanele attacked her in public claiming to be my wife and harassed her in front of people. Now she is ignoring me and doesn't want to hear a thing I'm saying."

His mom: "Oh my baby. Did you try to explain yourself?"

Dev: "Yes but then again I messed up by hiding that I have a son."

His mom: "Oh? Apologise baby and probe to her that, that stupid baby mama of yours isn't your wife but just your son's mother."

Dev: "Okay. Do you want to say 'hi' to her?"

His mom: "Wait, you telling me all this time she is next to you?! You're stupid Devone!"

Dev: "Mom, come on."

His mom: "Just hand her the phone." he hands me the phone.

His mom: "Hello?" I clear my throat.

Me: "Hello."

His mom: "How are you my baby?!"

Me: "I'm well thanks Mrs Carson and yourself?" she laughs softly.

His mom: "Girl, it's Miss Carson. I'm not married, that boy's father was stupid and I have to tell you, Devone takes after his father." I laugh lightly when I see Devone's face scrunching into a frown.

Me: "I totally understand you." he frowns more which makes me laugh even more.

His mom: "You better make him grovel and beg you. Don't forgive him so easily baby, okay?"

Me: "Yes mah."

Dev: "Mom, come on!"

His mom: "Bye Ms Lihle." she males kissing sounds then hangs up.
