BAFANA MESULI MAJOLA

It's been a hectic past few months for me, with Ntokozo's husband threatening me and Ntokozo always trying to justify herself. I also have been busy with starting my own car wash. I'm happy to announce that in just a few weeks, it will be taking off.

Sqalo: "Who was that woman earlier on?!"

Me: "What woman?" I ask trying to hide my smirk.

Sqalo: "The one you were trying to sneak out in the morning?!"

Me: "Just someone mfethu." He eyes me suspiciously.

Sqalo: "I hope it's not that woman who once rejected you and then insulted you in front of people at work?!"

Me: "Aybo!"

Sqalo: "Bruh!!! Kanti how do you think wena?! How the hell do you continue to pursue such a woman?!"

Me: "Bruh. Just let me do whatever the hell I want."

Sqalo: "I hope you know what you are doing." He says grabbing a bottle of water and walks out. My phone rings and it's Ntokozo, I hesitate to answer a few times then finally accept her call.

Ntokozo: "I'm in labor and on my way to the hospital."

Me: "What?! Okay. i will be there shortly." She hangs up. I grab my things and knock on my brother's bedroom door.

Sqalo: "Yini?!"

Me: "Let's go, Ntokozo is in labour." He grabs his things and we leave immediately. Arriving at the hospital, I immediately rush to the reception area while Sqalo parks the car properly.

Me: "Hi sisi. I'm looking for Ntokozo Mweni, she was admitted just recently. She is in labour."

Receptionist: "Oh yes! Mrs Mweni is currently in the labour ward, the doctor was still waiting for her to be diluted."

Me: "Can you give me directions to the ward?!"

Receptionist: "Sure. It's room 4LW." I thank her and continue rushing through the corridors. I barge in the labour ward and then halt in my steps when I realise that there is a bunch of other women in here too.

"Fana!" Only then do I notice her. I walk to her and there is a nurse checking up on her and she keeps on shouting at her.

Nurse: "Awazi ufunani la! We don't have your file in here!"

Me: "Is this how you were taught to do your work?! What happened to politeness?!"

Nurse: "And who are you?! Men are not allowed inside this ward." She says with a scowl, sizing me up and down.

Me: "Uzongazi." I then turn to Ntokozo who keeps wincing.

Me: "How are the pains?"

Ntokozo: "Kubuhlungu ngempela Fana." She cries softly. I hug her.

Me: "Who admitted you here?"

Ntokozo: "Mweni." I scoff nodding my head. How kind of him?!

Me: "Will you be able to bare the pain for atleast 15-20 more minutes?!"

Ntokozo: "Angazi!" She snaps and starts crying.

Nurse: "Just let her be!" I click my tongue and pick her up, bumping into my brother by the reception desk. I'm sure he was already sweet talking the lady.

Me: "Bafo!" He rushes to me with a confused look.

Sqalo: "And then?! Isn't she in labour?!"

Me: "Please ask your questions later. Drive us to our usual Gynaecologist." He nods and rushes to open the doors for us. I carefully place Ntokozo on the seats then join her. She cuddles up on me and I let her as Sqalo drives us to the hospital. I quickly text our GP and let her know we are on our way.

Dr Nkosi: "Oh look at that, mommy and daddy's prince is here!" She says after the baby comes out finally.

Dr Nkosi: "Daddy, would you lile to cut the umbilical cord?" I nod already feeling so emotional.

Me: "Please." My voice cracks a bit. I bite my lower lip to stop myself from crying. I'm not even ashamed that these nurses and doctor are seeing my tears, my parents taught us to never hide your emotions in different occasions, just for the sake of society. Right now, I am so happy and grateful that I am a father.

After cutting it, my son is then handed to his mother for a skin to skin moment. After that I take him and kiss him then let the nurse go clean him up.

Me: "Thank you so much, Ntokozo." I kiss her forehead and she gives me a light smile.

Ntokozo: "What will you name him?"

Me: "Zosukumizizwe." I respond with pride and a smile.

Ntokozo: "Zosukumizizwe. I love it." I smile and nod.

Me: "What would you like to have?"

Ntokozo: "Anything with meat, please."

Me: "Okay. i will be back during visiting hours." She nods lightly.
