Life was flowing beautifully right now. Everyone I knew was happy and just existing, and nothing seemed to be clipping at my heels anymore.
Maybe it is Hobi. Maybe finally letting him in, admitting I love him, and having a healthy relationship with no secrets was giving my heart the peace it needed. All the while, I did not forget the man who reignited my ability to live when I thought it had flatlined long before I met him.
Aera was doing well at school, she got star of the week on her first week and I'm still telling anyone who will listen about it, she has been asking over and over to have a friend over for tea now that they have started to read a book in the afternoons about a massive tiger who comes to tea. Of course, I am a push-over and I am going to let her, I am just going to kidproof the flat first... four-year-olds are like little pocket rockets at the best of times.

'Fran ....are we doing the sandwich place again for lunch?' I asked, subtly peeking over the monitor on my desk.
No Answer.
'Franny.....I can see your forehead dear!' I said.
Still no answer.
Now I am always telling Aera not to throw things, but I was never a stickler for the rules, and I rolled up a Post-it note in my hand and tossed it her way, it hitting the target and bouncing off the top of her monitor next to my open office door.
'Oh, woah. Oh, sorry, Kat. What did you need?' Fran said a little flustered. She fiddled with her mobile phone, closing it down and putting it on her desk.
'I was just wondering where you wanted to do lunch?' I smiled.
'But I can see something had got you pre-occupied...and as I am not sensing that you want to throw up...I know it isn't Trevor......so now I am curious. I continued.
'Oh .....It's ....no you'll think it's odd' Fran said sheepishly.
'I won't....what is painting a smile this Thursday?' I asked, feeling a little bad that she felt nervous to tell me.
'Do you remember that internet dating chat thing I told you about....well we have been talking lots and I like him' Fran said, her little freckled cheeks glowing slightly pink with giddiness.
'I do....go on' I said back.
'Well, we have been chatting for a long time and I think that I really like him and he said he will be coming to the UK soon and wants to meet me !' Fran responded with a childish glee to her voice.
'That's nice' I replied, without trying to let my motherng instinct interfere, I mean Fran was a full grown woman, 24 years old, a bit ditzy but still very intelligent, but I guess with my life experience and the way life went for me sometimes, It is only natural for me to worry.
'Am I being stupid....I mean don't teenagers or middle-aged people do this ?' Fran said.
'Well I hope I'm not in that' I laughed back as being 40 certainly felt like middle aged to me.
'Oh shit no...but you'd tell me....you would tell me if this was silly wouldn't you Kat ?' She asked, her eyes all wide.
'Just be careful... sometimes people aren't what they seem and you are too nice a girl to just settle for anyone Fran' I said trying not to poo poo her crush but still impart some maternal wisdom.
'I just want to find someone who likes me' Fran said sighing, still with that hopeful look in her eyes that this was prince charming and not some cock in tinfoil who still lived in his mums basement.
