The summer had been interesting and long but it was finally that time and the piece of my heart hurt a little because it meant that my wonderful little girl was growing up.
She seemed to change so much every day, she was this awesome little human with her own little village of people who just loved every bit of her, but it was just a week away now and part of me didn't want to accept it.
My beautiful girl would be starting school properly, she was 4 and still seemed so small but she was so happy and I never thought I would see the day when I would be a Mother and my little girl would be taking the first steps away from nursery and becoming her own person.

'How do they feel baby....are they tight at all?' I asked as Aera rocked from side to side testing out her shiny new school shoes and I watched to see if they seemed too tight.
'No Mama...I like them and they are so shiny!' Aera smiled and made sure to dance her little feet on the spot to make me feel a little better.
'So shall we get these?' I asked and was met with a flurry of nods.
'Yes Mama, my soft ones, and my purple book bag !' Aera said excitedly.
I swear kids are excited at this age but give it a decade and I would have to prize her from her room like a typical grumpy teenager.
'You look so smart, baby!' I said, my eyes always feeling a little misty at the thought of Aera growing up.
'I'm going to tell Mi-Mi all about it and she will tell Daddy how smart I look' Aera said as she sat down and let me take off the shoes so I could hand them to the assistant.
'He really would be sweet girl...you look so smart...so much bigger than 4!' I answered.
'Can you send a picture to Bo Bo...I want him to see my purple clothes....he said it is his favorite colour Mama!' Aera said hanging on for my answer.
'Of course baby...we are seeing him in a few days remember ...' I replied to the familiar sounds of giggles of approval.
Well, I swear that you need a separate mortgage these days or a lottery win to afford a school uniform, and it was a shame that I couldn't just use the nursery one she had, I mean technically it is the same place but I guess it makes sense for parents not to have to buy the whole thing as they aren't guaranteed a place in the main school by being in the nursery.
'OK, I think that is everything, all the bits for Our Lady Grace School and the school shoes with plimsolls and the book satchel?' The assistant asked as she scanned the tags.
'Yes ...Yes ....unless there isn't anything in this shop we haven't already bought ?' I joked back.
'OK well, that will be £251.76 please?' The assistant said.
I swear I felt my asshole pucker at the cost but it was necessary and hopefully Aera wouldn't decide to have an unexpected growth spurt. I swear uniform prices were designed to make parents feel like their soul were about to turn inside out.
I handed over my debit card with a gulp but it was done and dusted now.
'Thank you, Mama...I like my shoes' Aera said as I took the rustling green plastic bags in my hands.
'You're welcome baby girl...now let's go home before it gets wet later' I said and we left.
=========================================================================
'Mama ....MAMA.......It's Jenson and Oscar !' Aera yelled and jumped on the spot while we walked back to the underground station to get home.
'Oh yeah, you're right baby...I see them!' I said just as Jenson caught my eye and came over.
