"It's a girl." The doctor says, handing your husband your newborn baby. He smiles, cradling her in his arms. "You did good baby." He leans over and kisses your cheek, then hands you the baby. You and Patrick had the option to see the gender before hand, but you two agreed for it to be a surprise. Deep down you knew Patrick was ready for a daughter, even though he wouldn't admit it. You hold your baby close to you and look up at Patrick. "What should the name be?" He thinks for a minute, then looks at you. "Madelyn." You smile, kissing her tiny head. "It's perfect for her." Patrick stands up. "I'm going to get Declan from the waiting room." A few minutes later Patrick comes back with your 6 year old step-son. When he sees Madelyn, his eyes widen and a smile creeps across his face. "A sister! Can I hold her mom pleaseee?" You smile as you carefully hand Madelyn to Declan. Patrick walks over to you. You lean up and kiss him. "What a beautiful family." He whispers in your ear, giving you a kiss on the cheek."
