Kashvi-

For a mother, even a scratch on her child is a big deal. Then how could anyone expect our lovely mom to stay quiet after finding out about her son's injury?

And not just one so, she considered both of them her own.

The moment she found out, she and Dad booked a private jet and landed straight in the city.

I had tried calming her down, telling her that Danish was asleep in our bedroom while the other was busy downstairs, but nope.

She wanted to see both of them immediately.

I had never seen her this worried before. It had been nearly impossible to calm her down.

So currently, I was upstairs trying to wake up my husband, who had handed all his work over to his PA and was sleeping peacefully while his mother continuously called for him downstairs.

He was a workaholic, yet ever since last week, his complete lack of interest in work had me feeling restless.

Only he knew what was going on inside that head of his.

"Danish, Mom is calling you downstairs. Just put on a shirt and come quickly," I said, shaking his shoulder.

He shifted slightly before his eyes fluttered open instantly, as if he hadn't been sleeping at all and had only been pretending.

He sat up lazily, looking at me as though my mere existence had inconvenienced him.

Ignoring the look, I threw a grey T-shirt at him.

"Wear this and come downstairs. Now."

Without waiting for a response, I walked out of the room as he headed toward the washroom.

Descending the stairs, I found Rahul receiving a lecture while standing in front of Mom like a schoolboy.

Sam and Divya sat beside her, thoroughly enjoying the show.

Shaking my head, I headed to the kitchen and helped the staff prepare tea and snacks for everyone.

"Stop crying, you idiot."

I heard Danish mutter the words somewhere behind me.

Knowing Rahul, he was probably complaining about being the only one getting scolded despite having fewer visible injuries than Danish.

Of course, nobody had shown Mom the injury on Danish's back.

I was arranging the snacks when Sam strolled into the kitchen and leaned against the counter, staring at me with an unusually serious expression.

Now what was wrong with him?

"Bhabhi?"

I hummed in response, focusing on the stove while waiting for him to continue.

"I am scared."

The quiet confession made me turn the stove off immediately.

I faced him, ruffling his hair until he looked up at me.

"Why?" I asked softly.

He sighed and grabbed my hand.

"First you, and now Bhai. This isn't right. I love both of you so much. What if something happens to either of you? Just because Just because abtak hua nahi matlab aisa toh nahi na ki ho nahi sakta,"

His words hit harder than he probably intended.

Because that was exactly how I had felt while watching the doctors dress my husband's wounds.
