Kashvi-
I looked at mom, my breath caught somewhere between hope and hesitation.
Did I even need an apology from her? Not really.
I was used to elders making mistakes, saying hurtful things, and then moving on as if nothing happened. That was how things usually were.
But this? This wasn't about ego.
If she truly wanted me back, if she accepted me wholeheartedly that mattered more than any forced apology ever could.
I didn't want this to become some ladke waale vs ladki waale battle.
Some "ab humaari baari hai jhukaane ki."
No.
I was already exhausted from enough emotional warfare.
" No mom please don't. My family hurt yours, you made me leave, it's even. I can't let you apologise," I said quickly, shaking my head.
My mother-in-law looked at me for a long second.
And then something in her expression cracked- remorse.
" No Kashvi," her voice softened, trembling in a way I had never heard before, " I didn't just hurt you, I hurt my son too."
The entire room fell silent.
" Every single day after you left, I watched him. He smiled less. He stopped living in that house, he only existed there." Her fingers wrapped around my wrist gently. " I became selfish. So blinded by my anger that I forgot my own son's happiness was standing right in front of me, in the form of you."
My throat tightened.
" I am so sorry, Kashvi," she whispered, tears gathering in her eyes. " Please forgive your mother and please come back home. That mansion - it lost its spark without you."
Now I was going to cry. I looked toward dad instantly.
His face remained stern for a second before he finally gave me the smallest nod.
And somehow, that one nod felt like permission.
Like trust. Like love.
I glanced around.
My mom was emotional. Badi maa was smiling.
Ru bhaiya looked relieved and Ree was practically vibrating.
Sam? Grinning like he had personally negotiated world peace.
And Danish was just standing there, calm.
Like he already knew I was his way before anyone else did.
For him -I would choose this. Every single time.
" Only on one condition," I finally said.
That got everyone's attention instantly.
Dadaji leaned forward dramatically. " Bol beta, apne bachhon ki khushi ke liye kuch bhi."
I folded my arms, pretending to think hard.
" You all are invited," I said, pausing for effect, " to OUR fully planned wedding."
Silence.
" With full happiness, full love, and full chaos," I continued, pointing around like a queen issuing orders. " Aur haa! Is baar sabko dance karna padega. Properly. No excuses. Iss poore siyappe ke badle....mai sabko apne ishaaro pe nachaungi."
