Kashvi-
I sat in front of the mirror as the makeup artist finished the final touches, carefully painting me into yet another version of myself.
Every time I sat through this, all I could think about was how long it would take to wash it all off later.
With how frequent these shoots had become, I had started taking extra care of my skin.
"Kashvi, this is the last shoot for this month," my manager informed.
I nodded lightly.
In the middle of all this chaos, I had taken just one day off.
Just one.
And somehow, even that had forced them to cut short a few scheduled programs.
I still didn't know whether to feel relieved or guilty about it.
Either way, most of the major shoots were done. Promotional ads were nearly wrapped too.
Now, launch day was everyone's primary focus.
Danish had told me that himself during the drive.
This project mattered to him.
Not because he particularly loved this side of business but because this was his initiative. His vision.
And if it succeeded within a year or two, he planned to expand it into an entirely separate branch.
He had this strange kind of discipline.
A terrifyingly admirable ability to keep his personal life and professional life separate.
If it weren't for him, I probably would've been curled up somewhere, emotionally drowning in everything happening around us.
But instead, he had simply reminded me to focus on what mattered right now.
So I did.
I exhaled softly before standing up, my confidence far steadier now compared to my first shoot.
"Ma'am, this way please."
I got back to work.
.
.
.
The shoot ended sooner than expected, and by evening, we were heading back to the office.
I excused myself the second we arrived, making my way straight toward Danish's office.
He had been under too much pressure lately.
At first, I thought it was only because of Sam.
Thankfully, Sam had been discharged almost a week ago and was recovering much faster than any of us had anticipated.
He still called me every night though.
Mostly to update me.
Sometimes just to complain about how much he missed me.
And almost every single time, he'd ask why I wasn't coming back yet.
I always lied.
Because Danish had strictly told me not to tell him anything.
A part of me knew Sam would eventually figure it out anyway.
But for now ignorance was convenient.
Pulling my blazer tighter around myself, I stepped out of the elevator, immediately hit by the usual cold silence of this floor.
