A loud thud stirred me out of sleep.
The kind that drags you violently from unconsciousness.
My eyes snapped open,
Pitch black.
I stared into the darkness.
For one second, I couldn't even understand where I was.
My room.
My bed.
But something was wrong.
The silence felt unnatural.
My breathing slowed instinctively, body still half under sleep's haze as I pushed myself upward, reaching toward the bedside lamp, a hand seized my wrist.
The grip felt hard. It was not familiar , not gentle.
Wrong.
Every muscle in my body locked.
My breath stopped so suddenly it physically hurt.
That touch felt of a Man.
And absolutely not Danish.
Before I could react, the grip tightened painfully, yanking my arm downward.
"Long time no see, Mrs. Singhania."
My blood turned to ice. I knew that voice.
No.
I couldn't move for one horrifying second, my eyes straining against the dark until I finally caught the outline- tall, broad, he stood so close I could feel his breath.
Too close.
His fingers were still wrapped around my wrist like ownership.
"Who are you?" I demanded, but even I heard the fear I was trying to bury.
A low chuckle.
"Arrey, itni jaldi bhool gayi, Kashvi?"
And then, recognition hit deeper.
Yash Mehra.
My pulse spiked so hard I thought I'd black out.
No.
No no no-
Not here.
Not in my room.
How?
How the hell was he inside?
Where was Danish? Where was security? Where was anyone?
"How did you get in here?" I snapped, immediately jerking against his hold.
His other hand came up, his fingers slid slowly up my forearm.
Like he was enjoying the way my body stiffened.
"Seems like your husband," he murmured, voice dripping amusement, "isn't as capable as he pretends."
Revulsion crashed through me.
