Kashvi-
I was making tea when mom came and patted my head.
"I am so happy, Kashvi."
I glanced at her, lowering the flame. "Why?"
"Danish didn't leave because of you."
I nodded quietly. Because of you. Or because I'm his responsibility.
The word echoed in my head as I served breakfast.
Danish had already left for work,of course.
Dad and Advika were busy eating, while Dadaji and mom were laughing at Sam-who looked like he had fought a war and lost.
His shirt was half tucked in, half out, tie hanging loose, hair all over the place as he flipped through his assignments in panic.
I walked over, shaking my head.
"Sam, at least eat first," mom said.
"No time, mom! I'm getting late!"
I smacked his head lightly.
"Go. Eat."
Before he could argue, I snatched his bag and started arranging his mess myself.
Honestly, we had a five-year-old trapped in a twenty-year-old's body.
"Look at your brother," dad said, unimpressed.
"Always disciplined, organized and punctual."
I paused for a second.
Yeah.
Danish Singhania, perfect on paper.
And somehow, still the most impossible person to deal with.
Well, Sam and Danish were poles apart, thankfully.
With Sam, things were easy. Light. Real.
He had this effortless way of making people smile.
Danish.
He just knew how to silence a room.
I was pretty sure Sam and I were the ideal brother-sister duo.
I finished arranging his bag and dragged him to the table, forcing him to eat at least a few bites.
"You're the best," he mumbled, pulling me into a quick hug before rushing out.
I smiled, shaking my head.
Somewhere along the way, he had become my brother first and Danish's later.
Advika snorted at that, but I ignored her and told mom I was leaving for work.
The moment I stepped out and saw Savio, I rolled my eyes.
Of course.
I sat inside the car, crossing my arms.
Dressed in all black, silent as ever, he barely looked human sometimes.
"Why are you here for me?" I asked, annoyed.
"Your boss is the one who needs protection. He's the famous one."
Savio didn't even look at me.
"He can handle himself," he replied calmly.
"He has other men for that."
I let out a quiet huff, leaning back in my seat.
Right.
Because Danish Singhania didn't just act like a mafia boss,he practically lived like one.
"How do you even tolerate your boss?" I asked, grinning a little.
For a second,even Savio's lips twitched.
Of course.
