THIRD POINT OF VIEW
Beyoncé didn't want to wake up—she wouldn't have if it weren't for Solange shaking her awake.
"Come on, Onika is outside!" the 12-year-old groaned as she pushed her sister, who blinked, sitting up slowly.
"I forgot we had a date—why're you dressed up?" she asked, looking down at her sister, who looked as if she were going somewhere.
"Because Nika said she wants me to come. We're going to the aquarium!" she said excitedly, which made Beyoncé's head tilt. A wave of déjà vu hit her. Solange and Beyoncé always fought over Onika—this wouldn't be any different.
"I thought it was just gonna be me and her. Why'd she invite you? Also, Mom's not gonna let you come."
"First off, you aren't the only one Nika loves. Second, I told Mommy I had an assignment due and I'm going to my friend's house to work on it."
Beyoncé gasped, hearing that her sister was lying.
"I wanna hang out with Nika. So you either come on or get left." She shrugged, which made Beyoncé groan, getting out of bed and quickly finding an outfit.
She threw on a black one piece, a slightly oversized cardigan, white socks scrunched up at her ankles, and white rick owns on her feet. She grabbed a bag, tossing in everything she needed. She was about to sit in front of her mirror and put on makeup but stopped herself.
This wasn't some date—Onika didn't deserve Beyoncé's mascara or blush—she didn't deserve the full glam, because she had to work for that. Beyoncé made sure she looked presentable enough, then quietly left the house.
Outside sat Onika's black car—Beyoncé knew it was expensive but forgot the name of it. She walked to the front door only for the window to roll down. Solange sat in the front, sticking her tongue out as Onika smirked in the driver's seat.
"Move," Beyoncé said, pulling on the handle, trying to open the door, but it didn't budge.
"No. You spent the whole night with Nika. I wanna hang out with her. Don't be lame."
"Girl, I don't care—never mind, fine." Beyoncé had to remind herself again: this wasn't that. Why fight over someone who wasn't her girlfriend anymore?
She got in the backseat, and of course she felt weird but didn't say anything. They pulled off, and Solange immediately started running her mouth. Onika happily listened the whole time. Beyoncé couldn't really believe that she listened to her like that. But then again, her and Solange had a bond Beyoncé didn't understand.
In Beyoncé's eyes, Solange was just like this because Onika was Beyoncé's girlfriend—or ex. Point being, she knew Solange wanted to be around her because Beyoncé was around her. But it was more different than that. Listening to Solange speak now, Beyoncé could tell.
