Sitting in my dorm room with Paku after school was fun. We did a little bit of homework and talked about our parents, but I couldn't get to my assignment Yukio assigned to me yet. I hadn't gotten any information about any other demon while at the library. I'll just look it up on the internet when she leaves. Only as soon as she left out the door I heard a knock on my window. I looked out trying to see anyone, but no one was there. Maybe just tired from a long day... when I was about to leave the window Amaimon poked his head into view and motioned for me to open the window. He scared me though and I yelped covering my mouth hoping not to attract any attention from outside. I tossed open the window meeting him face to face.
"What are you doing?!" I whispered in loud hiss.
"Can I come in?" He asked blinking almost innocently.
"N-No not now, I have work to do." I gathered a bunch of random papers to make it look like I had a lot of work.
"But you finished almost all of your work with those girls."
"Well I still have time to--Wait, are you watching me???"
"I am now." He said bluntly.
"No I mean before. Are you stalking me?"
"...I can help with your homework, if you just ask."
"I don't need any help." I rolled my eyes, I hate it when my questions were avoided like the never was asked. That was the story of my life! All these questions; Where's mom? What does she even look like? What was her name? Where's dad? Is he even still alive? Will I see him again!? And no one has answered any of them! Not even Pappy, so I'm here to find them on my own!"That picture you printed today" He said, "Those were really your parents?"
"You ARE stalking me! Does your brother know about this?" Never in my life would I have thought that ME of all people would have a stalker. That sort of thing happens to other people, who look like and have the grace of a model. Not me, not a girl that has only cattle as friends.
"He might, it's hard to keep things from Anuie. But so far he hasn't let me catch on to his incline to knowing the reason I've been staying out of the house for so long and coming home late." He tapped his chin, his blue eyes floating to the sky in thought and then looked back at me, "You aren't going to tell him are you?"
Well, I had planned to... Now trying to picture it, made me nervous. What does one say while reporting a stalker? Should I just march into the chairmans office and tell him his younger brother is stalking me? What if he asks for proof? He could simply lie and because they're brothers he'd believe family first than he would some stranger, right?
"Please don't tell him." He pleaded, "He'll get angry, I think... and I might not be allowed to stay here at the academy with him anymore. He'll send me away to live with father again."
He sounded worried, and almost sad... "Alright alright I won't tell. But why? Why are you stalking me???"
He looked down, "Was I that easy to be found out??"
"Well... only after you know some obvious things you shouldn't because you weren't supposed to be there when it happened, but you were. So you know about it, and then you told me."
"Oh, okay." he sighed softly, "successful predators stalk their prey without being caught until the final moments of the prey's life."
"Oh my god, a-are you here to kill me!?" I backed away looking around for anything I could use as a weapon.
"No. So since I am letting you live I've let you know."
"Right..." I grumbled a little uneasy, "So, why are you stalking me?" I feel like I'm asking for the thousandth time.
"I don't know." He answered, "I can't be seen on school campus during the day, and even in the night I have to stay hidden, because I'm not a student but I'm not a trusted ally to the Vatican either."
"And you follow other students around like this?"
"No, only you now. At one point it was Rin Okumura but only as an assignment from brother when I first came to the academy."
"Only me?"
"Yes."
"But, why?"
"I don't know..." He shrugged, "Can I come in?"
"No!" I crossed my arms, "That doesn't answer my question, and you stalking me doesn't make you very trustworthy!"
"Then can you come closer?"
"Well what if I don't want to?"
"Then just say so..." He shrugged and propped himself up on my window ceil getting comfortable. So he doesn't plan on leaving... might as well get something out of him while he insists on sticking around.
"Well, maybe I could use a little help on my assignment for Yukio's class." I held up the worksheet and saw him smile. Of course what better information source for demons, than a demon himself! Only this time I'd have to make sure he doesn't stay and keep me up too late. I can't be running late again."That boy today, with the blond stripe in his head..." Amaimon said suddenly off subject, "Do you like him?"
"Who Bon? We're just friends! Geez don't be like Shima and assume just because he helped me out once that we're dating!"
"Thats not what I said." He dangled his legs from the window and looked back outside, "I didn't ask if you were dating. I asked if you liked him."
"Oh...kay... well, as a friend yes I like him." my face was beginning to burn, as I suddenly began to understand why Amaimon had been stalking me!
"Just as a friend?"
"Y-yeah?"
"Why? Don't you think he's good looking?"
"Well-"
"And smart, and nice? Isn't that what a girl wants?"
"No, there's lot of other things girls want from a guy than just their kindness, good looks, and brains! Like they're strength, and courage to protect them when danger is around. And their trust, and loyalty. And to be understanding, and forgiveness."
Where is all this coming from, I haven't even had a boyfriend before, ever in my life. But, still these are the things I'd want... wouldn't anyone else? They sound like logical wants that a girl would have."Hmm..." his voice came softly still looking out the window, "Can we finish the assignment tomorrow?"
"Wha, but we only have one question left."
"Tomorrow. Good night." He repeated and then dropped from the window disappearing into the shadows the night had cast among the academy.Amaimon...could he actually like me?
