--Larrisa POV
"Lannie, you need to sleep." Maximus told me looking up from his bed of hay sprouted by the greenman.
"I know but I can't." I sighed pushing my waving bangs out of my face. My eyes were stinging and begging to be closed but my thoughts were stronger than my sleep.
"You haven't talked to me... You used to tell me everything. Now you're staying up just sighing and moping about."
"I'm nervous. You know I went to see my foster grandparents and got another lead, which is great but not knowing what I might fine is starting to really trouble me." I yawned letting tears spill from my tired red eyes and moved over to lean against Max's side, "I miss Pappy and Grammy. I miss being back on the farm. But I'll also miss everyone here. Amaimon... he wants me to stay away from him and I didn't think we had actually gotten so close-- I mean the dance and a kiss, awkward and useless arguments, being stalked, and fixing a plush toy... Honestly I didn't think it would hurt that much when he said I should stay away from him! Maybe it hurt more the way he said it, like it was nothing on his shoulders. Of course he's a demon why would he care, I bet he's just pissed he couldn't like, I don't know... get in bed with me or something. So then he just gave up."
"Uhm, I don't think--"
"I know Max I was the one who said we should keep our distances in the first place! But I didn't mean like never seeing him again! I-I like him, be it as a friend and maybe a l-lover..." My face lit up hot red admitting to it. "Maybe it was destined to end. Any one I end up loving here will be a heartache in the future. I'll move away and they'd stay here..."
"Lannie" Max nuzzled me softly, "If anyone had more of a chance of staying with you even after you find what you're looking for and graduate, it would be Amaimon. He's the Earth King, I bet he'd gladly move to a farm for you, he'd have less of a chance of breaking something expensive of his brothers. He might have said to stay away from him to show you that he's trying just as hard as you were to push apart so you can stay on task... he did it for you. But I can feel it, his discomfort in every element that makes up his domain. Bariyon rocks are heavier without gradual weight increase, Greenmen sprout only dead and dried roots, the naga's venom is twice as deadly and it all ties into his deep hurt that's struck into his heart that he now knows he has. If you have the chance, and really love him like you say don't keep him hurting, he'd jump at the chance to take you back no matter the argument before."
Running my hand in his fur and my eyes falling heavy still damp with tears listening to his words I felt some relief. I got a lot of stress off my shoulders. But also I've realized that I caused my own misery and I didn't have to put up with it anymore if I just ask for another chance with Amai. In my last minute of consciousness and unorganized thoughts I had put getting back with the Earth King at the top of my to do list for tomorrow.
Unfortunately it turned out that it would be a little longer before I got to see him again.
"Larrisa wake up!" Max jolted me out of my sleep, "You're friend is at the window."
"My huh- who?" I sat up with my hair looking as if it had gone through electric chair torture. Stumbling onto my feet I opened the window squinting down at none other than Shima dressed in his casual clothes instead of his uniform and that it was only five in the morning!
"Lannie there you--Oh my god your hair!!!" He shrieked and pointed starting to laugh, "You look like a lion and a wooly sheep that rubbed themselves on carpet during winter! KA-POOF!! Look at that, are you sure it isn't alive!?"
"Shut it dummy!" I rubbed the sleep from my eyes feeling an embarrassed blush heat my face as I pulled away from the window and frantically searched for something to help tame my hair, "What'ya want!?"
