The floor and I never officially met and for that I was extremely grateful. Instead I found myself supported by strong arms.
“Are you okay?” The voice echoed around my head. "Is she okay?"
“She’s good.” Ty'Mee's voice came then went. “Put her in a chair so I can see.”
I was placed on a soft surface. Gripping the arms around me to prevent me from falling to the side. I felt hands touching me in random areas, yet the swirling of my head prevented me from opening my eyes.
“So… strange.” The voice seemed to rock my nerves.
I leaned back against the mildly cushioned headrest and allowed my mind to dip its toes in sleep.
It will only be for a moment. I told myself. Until I feel better.
The elated giddy feeling was beginning to fade and leaving behind a horrendous headache and an ache in my shoulder.
It felt as if I stayed as I was only for a couple minutes. After a few deep breaths, the whirlwind of feelings subsided and I blinked to clear my vision.
“Her eyes are open.” The voices were clear now and did not cause the world to tip any longer. Ty'Mee appeared above me. She pursed her lips. “I don't think I am needed anymore. She's totally fine.”
I closed my eyes to rid any further residue of fatigue. The people around me continued to talk.
“Thank you.”
“Yeah.”
"See you later."
"Goodnight."
Others shuffled around and left the room.
Eventually, I opened my eyes again only to find Ty'Bin kneeling in front of me. It took me a second to realize that a whole lot more time had passed than I thought and now we were the only ones left in this ginormous room.
I slowly sat up on my elbows and asked. “Is it done?”
He gave a short nod.
“Did it work?”
He reached up and tucked some of my hair behind my ear. My skin tingled at the touch. “Give it time, we should know for sure by tomorrow."
I sighed, still not appreciating the headache that moved across my forehead. “Thank you… for being gentle.”
He placed hand over mine. I looked around the dark room again. Part of me was pained that Ty'Mee had made herself scarce as soon as she could and not waited for me to fully recover. I sat up, “How long has it been?”
Ty'Bin shifted to sit next to me. “A couple hours, give or take a few minutes.”
“Oh wow.” I rubbed my eyes after sitting up more fully.
“Are you ready to go?” Ty'Bin asked.
I nodded. “Yes, I am.” My crinkly but warm hospital bed sounded very pleasant.
With his help I stood up on my weak, shaky legs.
“Would you like me to carry you?”
Although grateful, I shook my head. “I still would rather walk by myself.”
Ty'Bin gave a half shrug in understanding. Holding his hand out to me he responded. “Okay, but if you are struggling or stumble then I will pick you up.”
I chuckled slightly then put out another scenario, “How about, if I fall, then you can pick me up."
We walked forward a few steps. “Oh no, I won't give you a pass if you even stumble.”
