"Alright, Eta Woo'Min, can you sit up for me?"
The he-wolf unsteadily sat up, trying to favor his left leg, or the lack of it. The stub above the knee was wrapped well but I was here to clean and replace the bandages.
"I told you, I am not an Eta anymore."
I put my fists to my hips. "Well, unless Alpha M'est'r officially removes that title from you, you will be Eta Woo'Min to me. There's that and nothing you can do about it. Now, is your back comfy? Do I need to get you another pillow?"
"I'm fine." The he-wolf grunted. "Just do what you need to do."
I felt bad for the Eta, we had tried for nearly three weeks to keep his leg but time eventually told us that it had to go.
I tried to maintain a cheerful disposition as I worked with his bandages but I knew that most of these wounded warriors either needed their mates or to go home to feel at all better about themselves. Even though many of the patients gathered enough healing to achieve a measure of independence there was still a large handful that needed daily supervision and care.
Once the Eta was settled back in his bed. I smiled at him. "I think I should let Ty'Mee know that in the next couple bandage changes we won't need to wrap that leg anymore." Eta Woo'Min gave a solemn nod as I grabbed the old bandages and headed across the room.
"Psst, Vae'Lee!"
I looked past the rows of other he-wolves and toward the door. Ty'Bin was there just past the threshold waving to get my attention. He had in his hand a stack of papers and excitement in his expression.
I looked over to the Theta in charge, my look was asking him for permission. He nodded dismissively and went back to his work. The Theta from a neighboring pack stayed behind to help us with our work since we still had so many that could not handle traveling yet. At the moment, Ty'Mee was on break.
Tossing the scrapI quickly washed my hands and sauntered over to the waiting Epsilon.
"What's up?" I kept my voice low for the sake of the sleeping patients.
Using hand gestures he led me further away from the medical room.
"The women and children have clearance to come back! We can see the girls soon!"
I gasped. "Vae'En and Duo'Lae are coming back?"
"Yes! In a week or so."
I jumped up and down, clapping my hands. "Finally! I've missed them so much!"
We hugged each other and Ty'Bin held my face and kissed me squarely. "This one more step toward normal... well a new normal."
I smiled then looked back at the room. "These guys are going to be so happy that their mates are returning. They've all been so discouraged."
Ty'Bin pursed his lips and nodded, "I know the feeling."
I chuckled lightly. "That you do."
"That's not the only news. You might have already figured it, but it's all done." He lifted the stack of papers.
I looked back and forth between him and the papers in his hands. My eyes widening with hope. "The peace treaty is done? Everyone signed it?"
Ty'Bin's eyes glinted with conformation. "Yes!"
I lifted a hand to my mouth. "Oh wow! That didn't take too long!"
"No, not at all. We were very surpised by the easy agreements we had on almost every factor. But, that's not all, here, I want you to read this section." Ty'Bin flipped a couple pages and pointed to a section labeled 'Relenquishing Subject of Prior Conditions' "I've been wanting you to read this part for a while."
