I sat in front of a mirror that was hung on the wall. A little, white, distressed table in front of me held a glass of water, a vase with Mimosa flowers, and a floral hairclip. I was looking at my hands which rested atop of a satin pale pink dress. My mind... far from the present.
~
"What's wrong with you?" Why won't you eat? There is so much good nutrition in this meal, it will certainly boost your health and this drab feeling you seem to be having."
My face remained blanched. I did not know what to do with myself.
Ty'Bin was... him. The Próta Epsilon Ty'Bin himself. What? I could not even think of it. Shock coursed through my veins. Earlier I was determined to talk with Obsidian about the mating ceremony and now I felt as if I could not. I mean, he did not seem opposed to me. Thinking about his past actions it rather seemed he had been extending himself, attempting friendship. Only, because of my gross misunderstandings, I shut him down.
Still, he was one of Alpha M'est'r's right hand man, he was Ty'Mee's sister, he had a daughter, the union with a human would not be allowed.
The 'Matebonds' book was set on the counter, it seemed to glare at me.
Ty'Mee waved her hands, surrendering. "Fine, if you shall not eat or drink I won't force you but we still need to see the Alpha."
I looked up, "I'm sorry Ty'Mee. I'll try."
I took the glass of electrolyte water that was set next to me and took a long sip. Subsequently, I ate a few nibbles.
After a bit I did feel better so we moved to visit the Alpha.
I walked into his office. He seemed calm and respectable. "You've had quite the day, Nu Vae'Lee."
After a long drawn out breath I nodded, "Yes, nie."
He folded his hands together. "Is it true that you thought that Eta Kun'Zim was the assigned wolfblood for the mating ceremony?"
I swallowed hard, shame made me bow my head. "I-"
"It is all my fault, nie." Ty'Mee, who faithfully stood beside me, interjected. "It was a foolish assumption on my part and I should have held my piece and-"
She stopped talking when Alpha M'est'r raised his hand.
"No matter now, that is in the past. While he might've been my first resort, you may be glad another was chosen."
I blinked at this information. Another? Who? Could I know? If Eta Kun'Zim was their first option I could only imagine that the other was some impish he-wolf that had carnal desires to "try out a human" like Kun'Zim. I held back a shudder. I did not want 'another'.
I tried to keep my emotions closed. I wanted-.
My heart squeezed. No, I could not think that, he was not mine to desire.
The chair squeaked when the Alpha moved the seat. "I know that there was an agreement to wait until the end of the week," the Alpha continued, "but you must understand that this unkempt kidnapping indicates an unrest that needs to be promptly addressed."
I did not respond but I understood.
"Ceremony will take place tonight. While it will still not be a full moon it will suffice. Ty'Mee, I leave her with you and expect her to be ready at the appropriate time."
My face flushed and my soul plummeted.
"Yes, nie. And are we still administering the preventative measures?"
