Ty'Bin rushed me to the shallow cave. I did not argue this time and stayed hidden. I held onto my nerves as I waited in the dreary silence, minus the slow crinklimg of the creek and a random bird twitter.
Rock fall interrupted the safe silence and I leaned back against the rugged stone wall.
When I heard footfalls I tensed a little and peaked out as far as I could in my sitting position. Ty'Bin poked his head through. “Alpha M’est’r has arrived.”
My relief was evident. I nodded and crept out. Taking the hand that Ty'Bin held out for me.
As I left the covering of the cave I saw a massive wolf climbing down the stone way that Ty’Bin and myself had.
So this is what Alpha M’est’r looked like shifted. Larger than Ty'Bin, and still so muscular. His fur failed to hide the chisled lines of many hours of workout and left him with a look that was anything but cozy. He was a deep brown color with a charcoal hue.
With quick and smooth movements Alpha M’est’r shifted to human. He stood tall and acknowledged me with a small head tilt. I noticed that he was not breathless at all.
“Not surprised that you are the first to arrive.” Alpha M’est’r and Ty'Bin did some sort of manly greeting that included back slapping.
With them both there and so close I felt quite small.
“How far out are the Omegas?” Ty'Bin asked.
The Alpha shrugged, “Give them three hours.”
“That'll be just before nightfall. That's good.”
“Beta's about fifteen minutes out.”
Ty'Bin smiled slyly, “Then he can help me gut these woodchucks I got.”
Alpha M’est’r chuckled, “I'll see if I can catch us a deer, that'll really keep him busy.”
The he-wolves laughed letting me know that there was some inside joke I was missing out on.
Alpha turned, momentarily exposing a playful, at ease side of him, it made me perplexed. “I'll try before he comes.”
Ty'Bin smirked as the he-wolf bounded over the rocks and out of sight. He turned to me. “You alright?”
I smiled, nodding. “Is there anything I can do right now? To help, I mean.”
He shook his head, “We're in the clear so you can relax.”
I let out a calm breath and sat on a nearby rock.
I was surprised when not even ten minutes later Alpha M’est’r came back with a large elk. He and Ty'Bin positioned the elk, woodchucks, and a rabbit carefully in a pile. It seemed weird strategic and the two men kept snickering. Beta came down the slope. His auburn fur and yellow eyes betrayed who he was. He lapped water quickly at the stream before shifting. He was accompanied by his mate who was right by his side. When she shifted, the bodysuit really defined her pregnancy. Apparently, she did not see the long run as unachievable in this stage.
The two approched the group and Beta looked as if he was about to greet the two he-wolves when he saw the pile of game. His face paled and jaw fell. Yhe mischievous two bent over, guffawing loudly.
Qu'Yda rolled her eyes with a smirk.
I found myself smiling as well. It was the first time I had seen this civilized side of the prestigious trio together.
I quietly watched as Beta joined in on the hoots of laughter. It made me think about how things were going to look from here on out. I was human… werewolf actually… and this was going to be my home. Being mated now ensured my survival and also sealed my stay at the Black Axis pack.
