I woke up on my own and blinked against the darkness but my vision did not get better. Knowing already that sleep would not come back to me I sat up in bed and wondered what the time was.
I slid out of bed and peaked out the window. The faintest hint of daybreak was detectable. So it's not too early to get up.
I turned around but hesitated, remembering that Ty'Bin had come in the night and was presently sleeping on the floor and I was a risk for stepping on him. Especially as tall as he was, he practically was wall to wall somewhere. Instead I climbed over the bed to the other side where I knew my bag was. As I rummaged through it I heard rustling at the foot of the bed.
“You awake?” Ty'Bin's half asleep voice broke through the darkness.
“Yeah. I am just looking for my watch. I am sorry if I woke you."
“You didn't.”
I let out a breath of relief and stood up, sitting on the edge of the bed. “What's the day going to look like?”
More rustling, “Most likely you will be pampered by the Omegas for a few hours until we have to leave for the Convention.”
“How will we get there?” I asked.
“By walking. I think it's only two miles out.”
I nodded, “That's not bad.”
“No... Did you sleep well?”
I let out a dry chuckle, “So-so. There was too much anticipation about today.”
I heard Ty'Bin stand up and grunt as he stretched. “I am sorry about that.”
“Do you think the Omegas will let me do some of my updo myself?”
Ty'Bin only laughed and opened the bedroom door.
Almost instantly an Omega peeked her head in. “She's awake!” Excitement made her voice sound giddy.
A bundle of Omegas piled into the room and surrounded me like a swarm of bees around the hive. I was picked up as well as my bag and then carried to the bedroom. The troupe had an exercised system as they began washing me, doing my hair, my make-up and helping me with my dress.
In just a couple hours I was ready to go. Personally, I felt that they overdid it. All the cleaning soaps, scentless lotions, make-up powders, blingy jewelry; fussing over how my skin didn't go well with their products. My poor tender facial skin was scrubbed and redone more than a few times. By the time they were satisfied I felt like a fish gone puffer.
I walked out and scanned the building. Trying to find a source of familiarity and saw Ty'Bin on the porch in his formal suit. The dark green outfit with the bronze buttons and Wos'Theian symbols as well as achievements in full display. He looked very charming and put together. I let myself idle as I stared at him. It was not often I just let myself admire his striking looks. I dared to let myself think about how handsome he was.
Holding my hands at navel level I watched his arms move to make a point in his conversation with Beta. I could see the strength in his biceps and the wisdom in his lips. Despite being attentive to his conversationalist, his stance and the way he held his head portrayed a sense of alertness.
It only had been a few seconds of watching him when he turned from his conversation with Beta and his eyes landed on mine. Instantly, I had his attention. Leaving Beta behind he made his way to me despite the swarms of people milling about. In my mind, they had faded away as his eyes turned blue and revealed the wolfblood in him.
How could I ever get tired of seeing that?
As he neared me I lifted my hand and he took it. “Hello darling, I've missed you.”
