After a rough night of little to no sleep. I left my room and began limping to the restroom to wash any blood off me. Sitting on the counter and hoisting my leg up on the sink. The faust squeaked when I turned the knob and cold water spurted out. Once the water became lukewarm, I rested my leg underneath it. It felt so nice and relieving to feel the warm water on my cold tight muscles. With the muscles relaxing a bit the pain level went down. I looked at myself in the mirror. The girl that stared back was so different then what I was used to seeing.
The spark in her eye was gone, her hair was not glossy anymore, and the shine in her previously rosy cheeks had faded. To sum up, my looks could be compared to a statue, or a fake person, even a mannequin; a boney mannequin.
I also had a perfect bloody handprint over my mouth.
I took ten minutes to clean myself up and brush my teeth. I took a long strip of toilet paper and wrapped it around my wounds. Toilet paper was probably the most sanitary thing I had to cover my boo-boos with. I was about to put my hair up but after studying myself in the mirror, I ran my hand through my long hair, going all the way down until it ended just past my bottom. I was going to leave it down today. The real first time since leaving home.
I got my jumpsuit and held it out to look at it. There were holes in the knees, in one elbow, and a few buttons were missing. It was also filthy. I only washed it three times since being here. Having only one jumpsuit there was not really a way to clean it when there was nothing else but my hospital gown to wear. Previously, I had hoped that if Hem’Lar came he would bring a new one.
I really did not want to put this thing on. It smelled so bad. I am not going to break.
I put one leg in and then the next.
EEEEERRRP!
Stumbling to catch my balance, I looked down. My big toe got caught in the hole that was in the knee. Now the hole went to the seams on the side and down to the middle of my shin. Beards and bumblebees, why this now?
After untangling my big toe, I finished putting the jumpsuit on. I wanted to get out of this place before Mes'Mu was up. It was already 5:30 and she was usually up at 6:00.
After slipping my makeshift coat on I slowly made my way up the stairs. I am calm, my heart is calm. I will be strong for Linska.
I stared at the door in front of me. Surely, staying here would be more damaging. Mes'Mu would eventually find a way in, but if I was out there… perhaps maybe Mr. Rogue would be of some assistance. Maybe, since Joinervett thinks that he brought me here, he will help me. I could bargain with him. His promise for protection if I go past the wall? I crinkled my brow and placed a hand on my face. Why am I thinking like this?
I reached for the latch and twisted it: undoing the deadbolt. Here goes…
I opened the door and stepped out. There was a light glow where the sun was soon going to be peaking out from over the trees. The slight chill in the air did not stop the birds from twittering and going looking for their buggy breakfasts. Actually, today was a lot warmer than it had been the last couple weeks. From the corner of my eye I could see a squirrel scuttling about, trying to find his acorn hole. I closed the door, locked it, and walked away.
I went to the golf cart and looked under the seat. That cheetah handbag was still there. Honestly, I did not know what I was going to do with this newfound evidence. Who would I even give it to that would believe me? The next and only things I could even do was to find out who Por’Lyn was and hide the clothes I found. Mr. Rogue seemed to think that if I used my brain, I could find out who she was. He was crazy, it would be like telling him, “Lins is pretty” and then expecting him to use his brain to find out who this Toulinska was with no other information. Crazy.
