Un-Evacuation

“Are we set?”

The Pi stuck her disarrayed head into the kitchen as I set the last tray of blood filled glassware into the kitchen fridge. In part I hoped that none of these dishes would be considered food grade after this ordeal. If I knew that the bowl that contained my broth once held wolfblood blood I'd be less likely to drink it. Honestly, this entire kitchen should be considered biohazardly contaminated and dangerous… forever.

“I believe we are.” I closed the door of the fridge and looked around for anything else that I might be missing. Letting out a tired breath I looked at the Pi and headed for the exit. “What's next?”

The Pi pointed to the clock back in the kitchen. “Alpha M’est’r wants us out of here in two hours.”

I turned my head back and checked the time. It was presently three in the afternoon. That meant we would be traveling by moonlight to get to the MoonDust Pack. I faced the Pi. “Are the others aware?”

“I've mindlinked them already.”

Ah, that convenient way of communication.

I brushed a loose lock of hair out my face, and rubbed the side of my face, “I'm already packed. I only need to grab my bag. But, I will first check with the Theta just to make sure she does not need me for anything else.”

“That's fine. I will wait for all of you ladies by the front of the main packhouse.”

I smiled wearily before departing from her presence. Absent-mindedly I walked to the medical room. I leaned on the doorframe instead of walking in. “What can I help you with before I have to evacuate?”

Ty’Mee looked up from the inventory logs. There were about three other Omegas in the room with her and four Thetas from other packs with their Iotas in the room. They would be staying behind to aid the wounded.

It would be just the Pi, myself and two other she-wolves I was not entirely familiar with. I think one was the Kappa’s mate (lead hunter), who was a hunter herself: a Lambda. The other, I had no idea.  But at least that was a silver lining. I would get more acquainted with another prominent figure in this pack.

Ty'Mee shook her head. “You go take a nap, pup. You will need it for the travels. If anyone shames you then tell them that I prescribed it and also prescribed a night in the basement for anyone who stops you.” She turned to another Theta and began to go on about where certain supplies were.

I smirked and pushed myself away from the threshold. A nap sounded wonderful. I hardly got a wink in the last few days. Tomorrow was the day. In part I hoped I was wrong with the date and it was later but reports from the border confirm that the Vakusians… my people… were also preparing something big... I would cry if I was not so tired.

I rubbed my temple where there was a fatigue headache and made my way to my quarters.

As we went through the hallways I looked around for Ty'Bin. It had been a couple days since I saw him and I wanted to see him before I left.

No such luck.

With disappointment I reached  the bed, and laid on it with my clothes on and easily fell asleep.

The pounding in my noggin seemed to make a sound that I initially just thought was my headache pulsing painfully. The minor hmm in my veins did not help. I was in need of two things. Sleep and a shift.

The pounding paused for a split second and then resumed with all vehemency. I opened my eyes to a thin line and realized that it was rather a heavy pounding on the door. Someone was eager and impatient for my attention.
