I opened my eyes. I blinked and blew a breath. It was over, for now. I closed my eyes again and put my hand on my head. Grateful that the headache was gone. Rolling to my back I frowned.

Why did I have a pillow?

Although sore, I sat up and whatever remained of yesterday's outfit fell to the floor, leaving me in only the onesie.

“Vae'Lee.”

I froze, remembering my last few seconds conscious. He had come and was holding tightly to me. However he found me, I had no clue.

My face turned a few shades red and I placed my hands on my face. I was thoroughly ashamed.

“Vae'Lee, look at me.”

I did not want to, I wanted to disappear like the dust that settled on the crude cement floor and not face any questions or scrutiny that I might have to face.

I lowered my hands and turned my head halfway, seeing now that there was no pillow, rather I had been sleeping on Ty'Bin's lap. Further embarrassed, I wanted to put a little distance between us but Ty'Bin had reached out and placed a gentle hand around my elbow. I knew that he probably did not plan on letting me go far.

I turned a little more and noticed his torn and shuffled clothes. His normally prestigious top had rips in only vertical fashion, but it rendered the material indistinguishable and useless. I could see slivers of his chest exposed but by all things merciful there were no wounds nor blood to be seen. Looking toward his face, he appeared extremely exhausted, in addition, his hair going in all directions. As disheveled as he was, he was still so darn handsome.

Nonetheless, I felt immensely guilty. “I'm so sorry.”

Ty'Bin frowned, “What are you sorry for?”

I gestured to his person, “I ruined your clothes.”

Ty'Bin let out a sideways scoff, “Nevermind my clothes. Can you tell me what just happened?” His voice was genuine and coated with concern.

“Um…” I looked down at my onesie. Did he not know? I was sure he knew about these episodes, right? I mean Ty'Mee used to be my babysitter through this, surely she told him about it. “It's… um… just a routine thing.” I sniffed, “Since the attack.”

There were deep burrows in Ty'Bin's brow, he leaned forward to look at me more fully. “Routine? Vae'Lee, I rarely have felt so much pain before.”

I looked at him with mild confusion. Watching him up and down, he still did not appear to have any wounds. “What do you mean, did I hurt you badly?”

He moved his hand to brush my hair back and touch the marking in my shoulder. “No, Vae'Lee. There are many things… ” He paused. “We are connected now. Strong or distressed feelings are shared through the bond.”

I blinked back in surprise. “What?”

Ty'Bin leaned forward a margin. “For you, as a human, I don't know what you perceive but for us the matebond connects spirit and body.”

I gaped, disbelieving. “How- how does that happen?”

He opened his mouth and then closed it. “I actually have no idea, you will have to ask my sister about that one.”

The smallest smile broke upon my lips at his ease. It fell quickly though, “So… what did you feel?”

Ty'Bin gave a small smile that seemed like an attempt to reassure me that he cared. “You've been restless for a while and then, I don't know, you just suddenly were having a lot of pain. A horrendous headache is one that I remember.” He tilted his head to the side. “You said that this was routine?”
