Wonyoung didn't wait for him to sit down.
The moment Yujin stepped into the living room, she spoke-quiet, controlled, but sharp enough to cut.
"You know," she said, arms crossed tightly over her chest, "it's funny how some things never really change."
Yujin paused, keys still in his hand. He didn't sigh. He didn't frown. He simply placed them on the table and turned to face her fully. "What are you talking about, baby?"
The word slipped out naturally, soft and familiar.
She flinched at it.
"I saw you today," she replied, ignoring the way her chest tightened. "Walking with your secretary. Laughing. Close."
He nodded once. "We were reviewing the schedule. She had questions about the overseas client."
"You always have explanations," Wonyoung said, lips curving into a bitter smile. "You had them back then too."
There it was.
Yujin's shoulders tensed, but his voice remained calm. "We talked about that," he said gently. "I apologized. I told you I was wrong. I changed."
"And I forgave you," she shot back. "But forgiveness doesn't erase memory."
He stepped closer, careful not to invade her space. "Then help me understand what you're feeling right now. Not years ago. Now."
She laughed softly, shaking her head. "You don't get it. You never do."
"Then explain it to me," he said patiently. "I'm listening."
Her eyes burned. "When I saw you with her today, it felt exactly like before. Like I was invisible again. Like I was just... someone waiting at home while you built a world I wasn't part of."
"That's not true," he said immediately. "You are my world."
"Then why does it hurt like this?" she demanded.
Silence stretched.
"I saw you too," Yujin said after a moment. "At lunch. With your colleague."
Her breath stuttered. "So now you're accusing me?"
"No," he replied softly. "I didn't like seeing it. But I trusted you. I knew it was work."
"That's the difference," she whispered. "You trust easily. I don't. Not anymore."
His jaw tightened-not in anger, but something wounded. "Because of what I did."
"Yes," she said without hesitation. "Because of what you did."
The words landed heavy.
"Baby," he said quietly, reaching for her hand. "I can't change the past. But I would never hurt you like that again."
She pulled her hand away.
"Don't call me that," she said. "Not right now."
Something flickered in his eyes at that. Pain, quick and sharp, before he smoothed it away.
"Fine," he said gently. "Wonyoung. Talk to me."
She swallowed hard. "I keep bringing it up because I'm scared you've moved on from the guilt. That you think time fixed it."
"I live with it," he said. "Every day."
"Then why do you look so calm?" she demanded. "Why aren't you angry? Why aren't you fighting?"
"Because fighting you feels like losing you," he admitted.
Her voice dropped. "You're already losing me."
