The school trip started like any other—too loud, too messy, and too full of teenagers who were more excited about escaping class than whatever “character building” nonsense the teachers had planned. The bus smelled like snacks and cheap perfume, music leaking from different phones, voices overlapping in chaos.
Yujin had his shoes up on the seat in front of him, lazily chewing gum while staring out the window, completely ignoring the teacher who had already told him twice to sit properly. Ryujin sat beside him, scrolling through his phone even though there was no signal, his expression permanently bored and irritated.
A few rows ahead, Wonyoung sat by the window, her bag on her lap, quietly watching the scenery change from busy streets to open highways and finally to long stretches of forest. Leeseo was next to her, talking softly about the camp schedule, while Liz leaned over the seat from behind, joining their conversation like she belonged everywhere.
Further back, Karina and Yeji were arguing over a game, Hitomi trying to mediate. Gaeul filmed random clips of people to make a “trip vlog,” and Lia was already reminding everyone about the group assignments like she was the assistant teacher.
Then Yujin’s voice cut through the noise.
“Oi,” he called out lazily, flicking a folded paper ball that hit Karina’s head. “Stop screaming, you sound like a dying goat.”
Some boys laughed.
Karina turned around, annoyed. “What’s your problem?”
“My problem is your voice,” Yujin replied without even looking at him.
Ryujin snorted beside him. “Just mute yourself, bro. Do the class a favor.”
More laughter.
The teacher shouted from the front, “Yujin, Ryujin, enough!”
They didn’t care. They never really did.
Wonyoung glanced back briefly, her expression tightening, but she looked away again. Getting involved with them was never worth it.
After hours of driving, the bus finally turned onto a narrow road surrounded by tall metal fencing and dense trees. Fog hung low between the branches, making the place feel more isolated than it should have.
The bus stopped in front of a large, modern-looking training facility.
“This is it?” Yeji muttered. “Why does it look like a secret lab?”
“Welcome to your leadership camp,” the teacher announced, clapping once. “Three days, two nights. Teamwork, trust exercises, and no phones during activities.”
Groans filled the air.
As they unloaded their bags, the cold mountain air hit them. The building stood alone, no other structures in sight. No nearby town. Just forest and silence.
Inside, the facility was clean but strangely quiet. Their footsteps echoed too loudly in the halls. They were split into dorm rooms. Wonyoung ended up with Liz, Leeseo, and Winter. The boys’ rooms were across the hall.
By afternoon, activities began. Group challenges. Discussions. Outdoor tasks.
Yujin and Ryujin treated most of it like a joke.
During a trust-fall exercise, Yujin stepped aside at the last second, making one boy stumble hard.
“Oops,” he said flatly.
“That wasn’t funny!” Lia snapped.
Ryujin just smirked. “Maybe he should learn balance.”
Nobody confronted them seriously. People never did. It was easier to avoid them.
