The soft hum of the hotel air conditioner filled the room, blending with the faint city noise leaking through the glass windows. It was late, the kind of late where everything slowed down except thoughts that lingered a little too long.
Wonyoung sat cross legged on the bed, her back resting against the headboard, her phone held close to her face. The glow lit up her features, her lips curving slightly as she scrolled. On the screen was nothing scandalous, just a photo of Yujin from earlier that day. His outfit. His posture. The way he looked completely unaware of how attractive he was.
She zoomed in a little, biting her lip.
He looks too good.
And that was exactly why the idea came to her.
A slow, mischievous smile formed.
Yujin stepped out of the bathroom at that exact moment, a towel draped over his shoulders as he rubbed his damp hair. His shirt clung slightly to his skin, still a little wet from the shower. His eyes naturally drifted to her, like they always did.
And that was when the prank began.
Wonyoung’s eyes widened on purpose.
She flinched slightly, like she had been caught doing something she shouldn’t. Her fingers moved quickly, turning off her phone before clutching it tightly against her chest.
Yujin paused mid step.
His hand slowly stopped moving in his hair.
Something shifted in his gaze.
“…baby?”
His voice was calm. Too calm.
Wonyoung quickly shook her head, forcing a small laugh.
“Nothing.”
But she didn’t look at him.
Instead, she turned her body slightly away, her phone now subtly hidden behind her back.
Yujin’s brows furrowed.
He didn’t move immediately. He just stood there for a second, watching her. Observing. Processing.
Because in four months of marriage, Wonyoung had never done that before.
Never hid anything.
Never acted like that.
He slowly walked toward the bed.
Each step quiet, controlled.
“Wonyoung.”
His voice dropped a little, softer now.
She finally glanced at him, but only for a second before looking away again.
“Hmm?”
He stopped right in front of her, tilting his head slightly as he studied her face.
“…what’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she repeated quickly.
Too quickly.
His eyes flickered down to her hands.
The way she was gripping her phone.
Too tight.
“…are you hiding something from me, baby?”
The word baby came out softer than usual, almost careful.
Wonyoung’s heart fluttered a little at the tone.
But she stayed in character.
“No,” she said, shaking her head again.
But she moved the phone further behind her back.
